Will you be there ?

Agreed. Give the students first 10-15 rows behind both baskets to go with the current students sideline sections.
Also, I was fortunate enough to attended both UT and KU games this week and beside improving the students section, we need an upgrade to FC speaker systems. Allen Fieldhouse has over 30 speakers hanging down from the ceiling. It was loud yesterday but a lot of that noise were with the help from speaker systems during timeouts. UT has amazing speaker systems but that expected since they held a lot of concerts at Moody. We need more hype music/videos during timeouts instead students shooting baskets for free whataburger coupons when they donât even have enough coupons to give out. Do the contests during halftime instead.
Canât understand half of what is being said on those speakers anyway
Exactly. Our guy just screaming his lungs out everytime.
Why isnât the band allowed on the floor behind the basket anymore like it used to be when I was in the Cougar Brass?
They built the arena too small and oriented the student section/ club seats incorrectly.
Especially if they thought a Power invite was inevitable.
Maybe flip the cameras and the UH logo.in the court.
Long term- can it be expanded at all?.
This was BYUs student section:
So we can share the arena with an annoying preacher?
I would be in favor of putting the band on the floor so our students can utilize the entire section.
Itâs not rocket science⊠Duke does it in a high school arenaâŠ
Students fill the entire sideline and students/band behind the basketâŠ
Nice post with a great stat !
Go Coogs !
That still photo of BYUâs student section doesnât do it justice. I remember watching it and the motion was incredible. I donât know how anyone could keep focused on making a free throw but they did. We used to have trashcan man which was unique and fun to watch. Someone said it was eliminated because of complaints about it being an unfair distraction or some such such. REALLY??!! Why canât we have nice things?
EDIT: There was a clip around here of the time ESPN did Gameday at Fertitta. On that show they showed trash can man and and let the young man speak briefly. Why? I think it was because it was unique and not commonplace.
I was also at both the UT and KU games last week. Simply put, their students blew ours away. UTâs students take up three of the four sides of the stands near the court. They were loud and boisterous. KUâŠwell it speaks for itself.
I posted on here a couple of weeks ago about moving the band and got dragged. We have several hundred students that sit behind the band and they may as well be in the parking lot. Get them closer to the court!. Move the band to the floor or something.
Other observations:
â The expensive gray seats that are always empty need to go. Make the first 6-7 rows student seating and maybe the last 10 rows or so the expensive seats. Hell, those people are never there by tipoff anyway.
â As someone mentioned before, Allen Field House really nailed their in-game presentation. Timeouts were mini parties in that place with music pumping and students constantly being shown on the big screen. Our timeouts are awful: some guy throwing basketballs at whataburger buckets, some guy whoâs never picked up a basketball trying to make a layup, etc, etc. Just play loud music and keep the students jumping around. It was a vibe.
â The concession prices at UT were awesome. At least, they were pregame. 16 oz beer was $5 and a souvenir soda was $5. Someone told me those were PREGAME prices, and I think thatâs a GREAT idea. Have considerably cheaper concessions from gates opening until tipoff and maybe thatâll more fans to get into their seats on time.
That being said, if anyone in those gray seats isnât going to Tuesdayâs game, hook me up. Iâd love to sit there. And Iâll be there by tipoff.
I agree. The student sections at those games were something to be admired.
Some good ideas, but itâs delusional to think they are going to put students in the grey seats. Besides the very high cost of the seats and yearly donation, the initial buy in cost was enormous.
Nothing can be done in Houston to get fans to come to the game early.
It is always some sort of challenge to fans of UH, Astros, Rockets, Texans etc
We can have a policy that if you are not there in the seat by the first media timeout (16 min.) that SRO squatters can claim your seat. That might get you there early if you have to stand if you arrive late.
Yeah thatâs the answer lolâŠ
I can understand that 6pm tipoffs are a challenge if you have to drive in from the suburbs but 7pm and 8pm tipoffs should be at least 90% filled.
Only if the weather permits.
