Or maybe you are the problem
This is false all student tickets were claimed as of Sunday afternoon.
I think the problem is many donât bother to use their tickets.
I wonder if many are getting tickets and then selling or trying to sell them!
I have seen a lot of folks who donât look like students sitting behind the band.
Also I wouldnât want to sit in first roll behind the band behind the tubas
Iâve heard from UH students that this is an issue. This was a major issue for the football game against UT last season.
Change many to some and this is not an uncommon practice.
They should move all of the phone-watchers back there.
Then you have people like Matt Thomas who "claim " they are the biggest Cougar ever while takimg toungue in cheek shots at UH calling it the Harvard of the South, etc. And then he sends both his sons to other schoolsâŠTexas Tech and Texas A&M.
His wife, who he met AT UH BTW, loves Duke basketball and they named their first son after a College QB playing for Tennessee.
Tilmanâs kids would have NEVER gone to UH despite it being part of their Familyâs Legacy
YepâŠwe have a generational issue.
I know we have to combat the commuter school reputation but another stigma we have is that we are a fall back or backup school for Houston area high school kids.
Honest question here. Letâs assume some students are claiming their free ticket and reselling it for profit is true. Is it possible to track those 900 tix and if they are resold in the third party markets (TickPick, Stubhub, etc) couldnât the school identify the student who claimed the ticket and revoke their privileges to future free student tickets? I would think that would incentivize students that claim a ticket to use it and not resell it. Just a thought to try and fix this problem.
They should do what airports do is to verify the student who claimed the ticket is same on their student ID.
This will crackdown on the students who sell them.
Or the students who claim the tickets are given a moving QR code that cannot be used in a screenshot and non-transferable.
This will stop the recent graduates from using the student tickets.
This is from 2 pm today.
It was followed by the Nike team gear scavenger hunt around campus and then the announcement that itâs Greek Night to see which chapter can bring the most members to the game. Pretty clear we know student attendance is an issue.
The key to success is that Sec sells
Thatâs the answer⊠Gotta make the pre-game a PARTY!!!
Could we move the band to just one side of the stands and let the student section go all the way to the floor?
I have read, heard and watch people complain about our attendance. Our basketball seems attendance seems fine.
Here is my observation:
Our own business school, the one I graduated from has a Taylor Swift business course. Fine.
Now let me ask you this.
We have had attendance issues starting after we were put on probation in the 70âs. Since then our football attendance has been sub par/horrible at best.
Knowing all of that what is it that our A.D., Bauer School Provost, Tilman and the Hilton School canât get together and put together a business plan to address this issue?
I have brought it up 10/15 times over the years. I never got a response. We have a problem? We try to solve that problem. That is 100% on the U of H leaders. Just for the sake of argument. I am wrong and they triedâŠThen try again.
You have to capture students emotional attachment to the school when they are freshmen. Thatâs why living on campus is so important
I went to UH during the Keenum and Sumlin years and students still didnât want to show up to games despite being ranked in the top 25 a few times.
We didnât sell out any games other than Tech 2009 or the 2011 conference championship vs Southern Miss.
Half of my classmates didnât care for basketball or football.
We canât put it all on the coaches, players, administrators as they can only do so much.
If we canât sell out with Keenum, Sumlin, Herman, 3rd Ward D, Sampson, then we have no one to blame but ourselves.
Student culture at UH is a by product of lack of students enthusiastic about UH unless we are winning.
I remember they had trouble filling up the student buses to go to the Peach Bowl despite donations from alumni.
These are all good problems to have. There was a time we had NO fans.
