Running on the 5 yard line with less than 2 minutes to go is unforgiveable. Announce the firing on Monday.

If I were a betting man, I’d say he’s certainly here til the end of the season and probably comes back next year.

adios mf

Yep

Agree. Running the ball in that situation? Unacceptable.

too nice… he needs the greyhound home. His UH compensation stops now.

Running to get away from the end zone is the traditional choice. Doing it from the shotgun is not.

So our 1st string offense has one TD in 7.5 quarters of football? Giving off Major League vibes.

Traditional doesn’t work when you’re 30 point underdogs on the road with a chance to win. Gotta pull a rabbit out of your hat.

But I’d argue we didn’t lose it on the safety. We lost when we ran a bs handoff on 3rd & 4 from the OU 45 with about 7 mins to go and then punted on 4th down. We lined up for it on 4th, but took the delay of game and punted. The announcer circled our receiver who’s defender gave a 10 yard cushion on 4th and 4 and we didn’t run a play. Like I said, gotta pull a rabbit out of your hat, you’re playing with house money. We did the traditional thing, and we didn’t get the ball back until it was too late

To be fair the receiver was Mews so he probably had a 3 yard out and he would take it straight out of bounds.

And that would be a problem. In that circumstance, needing 4 yards with a 10 yard cushion by the defender, there has to be a hot route audible where the receiver just stands there at the snap, and the QB just gets it to him right when he gets the snap. It should be snap, throw for 2 yards, lean forward for the other 2 before the defense can react. If our 5th year senior QB can’t do that, why is he out there

Lolligagging down the field with 5 yard chuck and ducks with seconds left what the hell was that? Smith showed he can go vertical in that West Virgina game last year. If his injury is keeping him from going long then he needs to be pulled.

Is Kevin Barbay to Coach Fritz what Mike Nesbitt was to Coach Levine?

The offense was terrible in the Spring game, the offense was terrible in the season opener against UNLV and the offense probably doesn’t score a single touchdown tonight had it not been for OU completely busting coverage in the secondary to give us a walk in touchdown. Correct me if I’m wrong but the OC wasn’t exactly highly thought of at last stop Mississippi State either. Nothing against him personally just not seeing it from a football production standpoint. And sure, better talent will lead to better offense and mask some of the perceived deficiencies in play calling but we could most likely be doing a lot more with what we have right now

I suspect the Coog running game during UH practices must be very good, but it hasn’t translated into good strategy against actual opponents.

Learning curve. Make adjustments.

The Rice game is a must win. Rice beat TSU 69-10, so the Owls O will be confident.

We better be ready to win because a loss twice in a row to Rice would be interpreted by our fan base as throwing lighter fluid on a grease fire.

In other words, not good.:relieved:

We had 35 rushing attempts for 58 yards while Smith was 24-28 for 260 yards. By my math, we ran the ball at least 15 - 20 times too many. I don’t know how many times it was 3rd down and I said, “We better not run it here” and we ran it between the tackles for 1 yard. Barbay needs to go immediately. We will never win consistently against decent opponents with him as OC.
