They are just asking for your support, nothing else.
They want NIL money AND unwavering support of losing football?
We were competitive until halftime and had Dana not gotten brain cramps and skipped field goals we might have led.
Not all of them. Maybe some, but most just want a winning season and fan support. Can’t lump them all together.
Bad if receivers not coming back, but 4th down you gotta chuck / float it to a spot where you have a receiver and see if they can make a play or at least trick a db into intercepting it.
I always stay but it’s really hard to expect everyone to stay in their seats when the product on the field is so hard to watch.
I stayed in my seat until security asked me to leave (which for some games would have been half way through the first quarter)
Are they, though? In any event, I’d be happy if they played hard for each other and executed like it matters.
If you’re playing for me and the rest of the fans, then I’ll tell you the same thing I would tell my own kids, players or employees - you’re not getting it done, so step it up. Don’t try to shake me into watching you make the same mistakes over and over. Doesn’t work that way.
I was 100% behind this mindset up until about 2 years ago. I still am to a little bit. Now they get paid to play. At least here at UH, they are not full on paid players like Alabama, there are still many that are student athletes. Though as money goes up, I expect there to be less and less sympathy for them being well paid students.
Can’t be both a paid player and still claim your doing it as one of the students.
Coaches come and go, players come and go, fans come and go too…and sometimes they stay. Sometimes players become fans and sometimes they become coaches. Anecdotally, I don’t see a lot of former players at games…but maybe I’m just not involved enough to see them. Do you all see a lot of former players continue to be part of the program? Does that happen anywhere? I do see parents continuing to be fans after their children leave though.
Also, this happens every where at every level. I was at the Texans game and fans left by 4th quarter.
Toughen up, kids.
I played for an audience of one. #blessed
I actually don’t agree with that; there are, after all, non-athletic students getting paid to go to school. Whether it’s a grad student or a band member (at some schools, idk about UH) or a student that just got a fat scholarship to come here, they’re still students regardless of whether or not theyre being paid.
Players are legal adults. When I was their age was in The Army, at Ft Benning and Ft Sill.
Got an Officers Commission and a BBA.
They owe us a return on investment, which means Winning.
Not trying hard. Winning. We buy tickets to see that. No winning = No ticket sales.
Going to university you learn all sorts of things as you should.
You will learn that life is filled with great joys and great sorrow and defeat.
Mommy and Daddy and Coach at High School told you how good you are. Likely, if you are at a D1 Power 5 school you were the best in school, or city, or state.
Now you have new goals and if you don’t reach them you lose, people boo, people get fired.
It is call life young man. Welcome to the club.
It’s been an issue during our good years also, so this is not new to anyone.
Even Herman called out the fanbase for not showing up during the 2015 season.
No fans are going to show up for a consistently underperforming team. Even Nebraska fans quit going during their recent run of bad teams.
Pleading with fans to show up after you underwhelm them isn’t going to work anywhere, and especially not here.
Down 20 pts with three minutes left in the game you gotta expect people to leave early. People want to get home. A lot of people, including me don’t want to see more carnage at that point. The 25,000 that were there did their part. If they want to complain it should be to the alums in Houston that don’t show u p at all. Not to us.
The Rice loss and the ho hum game against UTSA blew the hell out of a lot of the goodwill fans were trying to give this team. You can’t give up 21 points in ONE QUARTER to the smart guys and expect people to be happy then play like crap against a mediocre (IMO) TCU team. A college education is worth a hell of a lot of $$ whether players get paid or not so don’t start that bullcrap about “for the school”. If players didn’t have scholarships they sure as hell wouldn’t be at UH. They would be playing for another school. In the real world you stink it up for more than a couple of days and you are unemployed. Try this: STFU with the whining and play better.
