they’re good for buy game standards though still being a heckyll and jeckyll team in late december is an oof
They will be dancing…
True. Milos looked good against Arkansas but he was really off with a shot tonight, and he didn’t do much else to contribute. Honestly, when Kingston is playing point there are times that I wish Sampson would just play another shooting guard like Miller.
Los’ bright spot came with the 3-pointer that he hit at the buzzer in the first half. That changed a 2-point lead going into halftime to a 5-point lead. It could have been a far different game if he had missed another shot right there.
One thing that is irking me is Cenac and his reluctancy to go for a dunk or close low post option… I know that isn’t his “game” but I would argue that him needing to be able to do that is just as important as his shooting touch.
I thought it was Spike Lee lol
Three freshmen in the rotation means we will likely be inconsistent (by the Kelvin Standard, not compared to most programs) until at least February.
I don’t think Cenac wants to play under the basket even though he IS 6’11” lol. He wants to shoot 3’s and be a prima donna. Lord I wish I was 6’11”, i would give anything to be a dominant center/post player
That lack of effort says they haven’t totally bought in yet. Hopefully, this game was enough of a wake-up and we don’t have to take some bad losses to get there.
We won the game and didn’t play to our standards. That is a very good sign. Go Coogs!
Totally agree. He had that one play in the second half when he made a move to get under the basket with those exaggerated steps he takes, and then he passed right out of it. He could have slammed it home.
Possibly. But it’s game 13. You wanna see some consistency
I think they wil come out better at Cincinnati
Glad that the first half against MT was a non-conference game. You play that way in a B12 conference game and you run the risk of losing at home.
Something I want to note. Metcy has looked really good in his last few minutes (last few games)
On a less deep team, he would have already been established as a key or star player for us.
To not misconstrue what I am saying, since that seems to be a pastime here. If we had given him development minutes to work out the kinks in his game, which would have been there on some of our previous teams, he would have broken out by now on a less deep roster over the course of multiple games {by midseason}. (I’m not saying if you just threw him random starter minute today he would be a star)
In his last 3 games with real minutes, he is shooting 70% from the field and 50% from 3. He has multiple blocks as a guard and is averaging 11 pts in just 15 mins per game. He was a bright spot in the game.
It really speaks to the depth of this team. We have a 2nd year 4star player like this, and whenever we play any competitive team, we just choose not to play him.
That game against New Orleans may have been his “a-ha” moment. The cool thing is that he’s playing good enough defense and working for rebounds well enough that he’s getting extended minutes to find his offense.
He was fun to watch last night. It’s amazing that we have dude like that sitting around the 7-8-9 spot in the rotation.
I agree with most of what you’re saying except for the last statement. There’s a good reason why he hasn’t played much against better teams. He hasn’t played well in those games. The decision not to play him has everything to do with the fact that he hasn’t looked good against better competition.
However, as you pointed out, his play the last few games looked promising. If he continues to play well, I suspect he’ll continue to see minutes in conference play.
Then again, sometimes it’s just about matchups. Walker has also played really well in his limited time on the court. We all know he gives maximum effort, too. Personally, I think both of these players have earned more playing time. And as I said in another post, there are times I wish these players were on the court in place of Uzan when Kingston is running the point. Both of these players are shooting better from the outside, and both getting after it on the defensive end.
Yup… hard to get minutes with Harwell, Mercy, McCarty and Ramon all vying for them…
With respect to not playing him against better teams… I think CKS also goes with the hot hand/best matchup with these guys right now…
I don’t think MTSU is as good as Coach CKS is making them out to be, they are at home barely beating SHSU in the second half
Kelvin acts like every team we play is the Globetrotters
