I’m gonna bet Cincy beats Baylor by 12-15
baylor has beaten projected tournament teams this year…
this is cincy recently
ill be shocked if they won by that much
Lack of turnovers, offensive rebounds, Flemings, our defense, Sahko, and Harwell playing so well was nice to see. Sharp wasn’t bad neither was Tugler and Cenac. Only one I thought had a bad or below average game was Uzan.
I believe the announcers said they’re one-of-one teams that have had a player in the top 20 in the NBA draft for 5 straight years.
Yes, I heard correctly, this is amazing
Baylor got the woodshed. ![]()
Yeah, and I assume he must look much better in practice.
An interesting conversation to be had.
Feel free to disagree, this is just a conversation. We are not making the decision, and on top of that, there is no right answer.
Topic: Starting Harwell over Uzan
This would have been crazy to say preseason.
Uzan’s preseason value proposition was that the ball was going to be in his hands most of the time, and with that we were guaranteed to be a low-turnover team. He knows the system and won in this system, and another projected value prop was adding another “40%+” shooter to the main lineup. It was essential for him to start them.
The dynamics have changed. Kingston has taken over the main point guard role, so the ball is in his hands most of the time, and Uzan is shooting poorly.
His current position is basically a moderately sized shooting guard who is just okay defensively, a poor rebounder, and is currently shooting 27% from 3.
Bigger wing: It is simply a fact that we are a better defensive and rebounding team with Harwell or McCarty at the 3, moving Sharp to the 2. with uzan shooting poorly their is little trade off in the shooting value
Points to note: you can get starter-level minutes off the bench, and in games where Uzan occasionally goes off, he can be kept in, similar to the Mills role. Not starting does not mean removal from the team.
The value proposition for him starting has drastically lessened, and there is potential value to be gained by putting others in the main lineup.
Again, these are just conversation points. You do not have to agree (Sampson likely wouldn’t start 3 freshmen anyways)
Harwell took 12 3-pointers???
Lol
Well, I did mention the possibility of Uzan coming off the bench come conference play…
Once we’re about 20 games into the season, I think a conversation with Milos will be had.
You’re trying hard. But you’re a below 30% 3pt shooter.
Get to your mid range. They’re leaving you open from 3pt for a reason
Milos: 3 of 22 shooting last 2 games.
(0 of 8 from 3pt last 2 games)
Tennessee, Syracuse, Arkansas, Cincinnati his best shooting games. But we need consistency once we hit mid February
From the start of the season I’ve considered Uzan our team leader. However we couldn’t have foreseen how much kinetic energy Flemings brings to the offense. I don’t want to say people stand around watching because Flemdawg dishes fast. But he runs the offense at a “sonic” level. He literally is not concerned if the other guards are coming with him or not.
Harwell isn’t shooting well right now, and the game still needs to slow down for him. He looks rushed when the ball is in his hands, and offensively, his confidence isn’t there yet.
I would start Milos and rely on his experience as the second ball handler over Harwell for now even if Milos’s three-point percentage doesn’t improve immediately. I feel Milos’s shooting will come around, and Harwell’s shooting will improve as well.
McCarty should improve too, as long as he cuts down on talking back to the coach.
What’s most impressive about this team is that we haven’t played well offensively at all yet. Once they gel and shots start falling, especially from McCarty, Milos, and Harwell, which I believe will happen. This team will be very tough to beat.
If the improvement offense and defensive improvement continues at this rate, I could see us losing only two conference games. At the same time I still fear our offense is not there yet and a game with the team shooting poorly (game against almost anybody in the top half of big 12 ) we could get wiped in a single game situation - especially Arizona or Iowa St…
I post in real time lol
I don’t wait for the game to be over to give hindsight criticism.
Very nice arena!
The DJ was great and Everybody Clap Your Hands only played once.
Will make this road trip again for sure.
You’ve actually been trying to start the conversation about benching Uzan since like game three of the season
Do you think Harwell plays better defense than Uzan?
the defense/rebounding is getting better even if its not elite yet
the main issue with our offense is we don’t really have anyone to get an easy 2 if the shots weren’t going down while last year we could always throw it to jwan or francis
individually yes… not talking within the system
Katy, were you guys behind the UH bench? Check game recording because I think you were on tv ![]()
