Game 17: #10 Houston @ UCF (W 69-68)

Roberts has been here before…

All I can say is that UCF played very hard and scrappy and we could not find any jump shots.
Good game. Sometimes you have to win when you are not your best.

I guess we know the answer of who does CKS want to take the shot at the end of the game…

lol i think Sampson goes with the hot hand… jwan was just the1st to make it lol… lj was hot in the bama game so sampson wanted him to take that shot… sharp was hot in the sdsu game so samspon had sharp take that shot… and jwan was hot this game, so he took the shoot… jwan is just the 1st to make it

Yeah… that’s what I see as well…

LJ had 3 terrible shots down the stretch yesterday… 2 wide open bricks and then an out of control drive that was blocked, Sharp was off and J’Wan had been dominating all 2nd half so that was a perfect call.

“Blindly”? Game over”? Terrance entered the game in the first half, and we were down by 3. He played the remainder of the first half, I guess because he was in a “playing slump”. At the end of the half we were up by 13. Although my math is nowhere near the level of your basketball expertise, I’m fairly certain that’s +16

For me it’s Roberts or Sharp taking the last shot always

i get how +/- works lol :sob:
my point was what was his impact in that?

i have free time so i just watched that entire stretch you just mentioned:
his box score in the stretch was 3pts, 1 rb, and 1 turnover

but your point was beyond the “box score” lets dive in:

  • in that stretch he was played a role in 3 offensive plays total- an open 3 from a jwan triple team, he tried to drive twice but was stripped both times (jojo retrieved one of the strips so it didnt count as a turnover), he played no part in any other offensive play, not even a hockey assist. wasn’t involved at all, was in a corner. 13 game miutes

  • defensively, he was defending seneca harris (The WVU glue guy who does 5pts a game) Arceneaux was not involved in a single defensive play in that stretch… he was part of 2 traps but they passed out of it, and reset… almost all plays were wvu iso’ing jwan and Lj and A couple swing 3s (not to TAs guy)… TA was not involved in a single defensive attempt, miss or make, he wasnt defending an offensive player.

  • for others: he had 1 offensive rebound in that game 13 minute stretch, no other impact for the “other category”, no deflections, other rebounds, dives… or impact plays

now you said its laughable to ignore his impact… can you explain his impact? not just stating what a +/- is, like actually stating what he did to impact that win? what did he do that was laughable to ignore?

LOL!!!

Yeah, it’s pretty clear that in terms of game impact, TA is currently the third option off the bench. Yesterday was the first time I really noticed his defense lagging. I think he’s kind of struggling with his role when he comes in to play the 4, but he just seems to be kind of floating around most of the time.

He’ll turn it around if he keeps his head in the right place; otherwise, he’ll find himself behind Ramon when he comes back.

i hope he bounces back too… im worried it might start to become a mental thing . he almost cost us the game yesterday and showed almost no emotion about it… which i thought was odd… the basketball part will come if he gets fully into it, i trust sampson in that regard. but we need him to have that fire and confidence

While watching the last 8 minutes with my SO this AM, I told her that a lot of basketball was left when Roberts made his last shot with 1.1 seconds on the clock. She had no idea what I was talking about, but I know that 1.1 seconds seem to last about 10 minutes.

Agree he was very good vs WVU. Sometimes when his shot isn’t falling it throws him off on both sides. Coach even noted it happened to Sharp yesterday.

Amen.
That is sports. Great teams rip your heart out when you are your best and they aren’t. Winning by 1 point isn’t a weakness. It’s an affirmation.

Is it me or does the name “Kip Kissinger” remind one of the heartless jock in a teen romance movie.

Another freshman goes off on UH yesterday. My only concern about CKS is it’s extremely rare for one of our freshman to really go off. Jarace a few times.
I wonder what CKS will do with our highly rated recruits coming in. Seriously if Flagg was on our roster right now, what do you think his impact would be? Jarace level or more?
