CKS - “I’d like to deposit my $6 million check for this year…”

He said we not he…

We are paying that… poor programs don’t pay that salary… Period.

One of the poorer NIL earners, Ramon Walker, has already become a corporate real estate developer…:rofl::rofl:

He’s still not even Top 6 or 7 with that salary and before we renegotiated last summer he wasn’t even Top 15. We been underpaying him for some time and the program budget is nowhere near the other elite programs are at lol… not exactly flush for cash either

Not even top 6 or 7… oh my!!!

Everyone with a higher salary has won at least 1 natty, too…

I love CKS but our coaching salaries are FAR FROM POOR.

Well go to each athletic department in the country and the same statement he said can be repeated. That’s the issue. Saying a general statement like that and calling this program “poor” is not an elegant nor a good representation of the University and its people. There are always areas for improvement and it is fair to pursue it. But saying the way he did sounds sour and unappreciative.

The point is we keep saying he’s the best coach in the country but we haven’t even been compensating him like he was for most of his tenure here. Either way… the topic is the overall program budget and being competitive for recruiting when other top programs are outspending us by upwards of 50% not coaching salaries.

No, it literally can’t and I’m sure you know that. We are “poor” when it comes to our peer group which is the P4 and that can’t be disputed. Y’all aren’t mad as if what he said was untrue just that he said it lol

Can you show me the numbers where most programs are outspending us by that much…?

In football I believe it… in basketball our leadership already committed to spend more % of the available $22 million on basketball than most other schools…

You not posting doesn’t sound like a problem.

lol in all seriousness I wonder what it’s like seeing a $230k deposit go into your checking account every 2 weeks

Peyton Manning talks about when he got his first signing bonus and check and was looking at $10 million in his account with his dad…

I wouldn’t say most…just in comparison to other elite programs. Someone posted in one of the threads that we’re around $11M and Duke is at $20M+. I would bet that CKS probably just wants us to get up to ~$14-15M range? That seems somewhat reasonable/doable.

I’m interested in where we land amongst other top programs so I’ll see what I can find on google.

It can. UT folks will claim what they are spending isn’t enough. Blanket statements like that made in public can’t be made without alienating people and what has been built. It is tacky and inelegant.

There is no one in the AD at UT that says or thinks that their department is “poor” or thinks they don’t have the funds to compete for top recruits and talent. lol stop it…

What do you mean? They always beg for more money. It is never ending. It is never enough.

The point is we are poorer than UT but doesn’t mean we are poor. Everyone wants more money for their programs. It is a tacky thing to say and warps the perception of what reality is for our athletics program, which is growing by leaps and bounds.

I don’t like to brag but 19 points in the first half could be a record low.

(maybe better you don’t post at the game)

I had to fill in because half the people were still in the parking lot or in traffic.

You’re comparing apples to oranges and you know that. UT is not ever worried about having enough funds to compete and get top recruits. Neither is Kansas, Duke or Kentucky. CKS is not making the statement in comparison to all of D1 basketball but a very small and specific subset at the top. I’m pretty sure he knows we have more money than SFA or SEIU.
