Game 3: Oakland ESPN+ 7pm 11/12

great, if Sahko gets medically able he should be great as a 30 year old hooping with his friends

He was… that’s why he’s on the Santa Cruz Warriors now…

He has loads of NBA potential… but can his offense get there… maybe.

Part of this is an expectation problem. There was no way the new guy was going to come in and be better than Francis, but that’s his benchmark, fair or not. But I remember Francis having some pretty terrible games when he was battling an injury last year, too.

I think JoJo really misses Roberts’ presence down low and the push he got from Francis. We don’t need a lot from Sahko to win, but we do need him to challenge JoJo in practice and get rebounds in games. He has the physical tools, but nobody can do that with a wonky back.

Here’s Jayme’s scouting report on Oakland, and their matchups with UH. Probably the best he’s done for us in three years:

This game has the buildup of a NCAA Tournament game, with Oakland being cast as the Cinderella. UH needs to take care of business.

That’s a great write-up.

Serious question because I don’t know.

Sampson mentioned that Oakland’s greatest offensive threat was their 3 point shooting.

But that begs the question.

In their previous two games, did their three point shooters appear to have guard defenders on them the likes of which Sampson generally has?

I mean, were they just being left open too much against Purdue?

They run the motion offense so they’re constantly moving and setting off ball screens to free up shooters or to get open lanes that force the defense to collapse and then kick to the open shooter on the perimeter.

I think this game covers the 31.5 and we destroy Oakland.

Any updates on Harwell or Sakho regarding injuries?

I’m fired up!

CKS said in preview of tonight’s game he expects Harwell to play. Have not heard anything on Sakho.

Let’s Go!

It sounds like KJ may not be available, either, though that wasn’t super-clear.

And does this “KJ” play for the Houston Cougars…?/s

In fairness to Sahko we aren’t asking him to have anywhere near as a big of a role for us as what Milos had last year. Coach brought him in for a reason. Let’s try and have a little patience with someone that’s learning a new system and apparently not 100% healthy yet.

Not sure if serious, but…

Not serious… I know who Kordel is… but it’s still debatable if he actually plays for the Coogs because I never see him play…
