Game 36: #9 Auburn vs #1 Houston - NCAA Tournament - March 18th, 2023 - 6:10 pm CST - TBS

It’s not why we struggled obviously, but I’m getting really tired of seeing the same refs with obvious anti-UH biases making our games harder.

Balding ref, Oglesby, is the most anti-UH ref out there besides Joe Lindsay (him and/or Lindsay both have been the refs in almost every one of our losses the last two years, most games with ridiculous free-throw/foul disparities-- both Alabama losses, the SMU loss last year, the Temple loss, all this in spite of not even reffing 1/4 of our games).

He was responsible for every iffy call in this game and took points directly off the board for us multiple times-- the Walker “charge” that should have been an and-1, the Shead “block” when he had been set for 2+ seconds leading to a 3-point play, the bogus loose ball foul on Chaney that led directly to a made 3… can we not get some neutral refs???

Auburn will likely be the favorites. Maybe that’s a good thing.

The refereeing was fine. Yes, there were a few bad calls, but for the most part they let us play. We need to play to our culture. Looked like we were uninterested in competing for most of the game.

The team looked like they couldn’t be bothered getting up for this game. They must have expected a yawner.

I’m confident coach will have our guys ready to play, y’all should as well

Remember last year, we were supposed to lose to UAB in the 1st round

This. There was no energy. Like they didn’t understand the other team was playing the biggest game of their lives.

It was overall fine and like I said, not anywhere near the biggest reason we struggled, but that’s 9 points from one ref on three calls that literally everyone including other teams’ flairs said were bogus. I just want anyone but Lindsay or Oglesby on Saturday.

Feel for Sasser has only played in the 2021 tournament

Second half reminded me of the Oregon game when it came to number of fouls called. Helped give us 20 more seconds to run off the clock.

Sasser is a gamer and if the doctors say ok he will play.

I think it’s kind of BS that this is a home game for Auburn.

Do we play zone against Auburn to start?

Shead likes to pressure the ball, but im worried Auburns guards could get him in early foul trouble

Plus could help with Sasser having him in zone defense also! Not have to chase ball screens

With the injury to Sasser and Shead hobbling around, I’m hoping to see us play some zone defense on Saturday. Force Auburn to hit outside shots and limit their transition game. Sasser and Shead are our best on-ball defenders one on one. Sharp has a much harder time staying in front of his defender. I’d play this the same we played against Memphis in the second half.

Sasser saying the pain is a 7 out of 10 isn’t good.

I didn’t hear that one. If that’s the case he won’t be playing Saturday. Best to let Sharp know now that’s he’s starting. TA can come off the bench. That’s what I’m hoping for, at least.
