Game Thread: 2019 Fiesta Bowl | UCF vs LSU (12:00pm on ESPN)

Saw it mentioned somewhere if Dana was not HC/OC combo. I am a fan of both Gibbs and Meachem at UH regardless of what their last stops might show.

Well I like Gibbs, and his aggressive take-away mentality. I wished he’d done better at Tech. I thought Meachem was solid. Kansas is a graveyard right now and will take someone special to resurrect them.

You know when he said that he did it with a sigh of relief that UCF didn’t win.

espn would said the same thing if ucf had won.

I think that football has done a great deal with rules and such to diminish the game, but imo this is not one of those cases. Also agree that it will never be eliminated (I think most cases are accidental), but I think this rule has helped. Whole lot of rules in society that attempt to stop a behavior, few actually eliminate it. Best we can hope is to have a positive impact.

Watched on delay and just finished up. I saw some of the sentiments above, and I completely agree. I think if Milton was healthy there’s no question that UCF would’ve won. Mack was their weakest link and hurt them quite a bit and often. The sad part is the talking heads will say “see” this is why they shouldn’t be in the playoffs.

The dropped UCF open touchdown at the end of the half, wasn’t that pass interference when defender dove at his feet, you can see the receiver stumbles just a bit to drop the open pass. Would have been a TD.

Why do you assume that Bryson is up next? He still has to win the position and Tune and Williams may have something to say about that. After all, he didn’t replace King when he went down, Tune did.

Just to put things in perspective. On D things were so thin, that LSU was forced to start in an Olineman on the DLine, and a WR at DB. If UCF couldn’t get it done against a weak makeshift D, that was missing a bunch of starters, I doubt they could have done much against ND or OU.

I am sorry, I want to show up the P5 as much as the next guy, but we have to be realistic about UCF.

Didn’t UCF score with 4 seconds left on the 2nd Quarter? Also penalties like this go both ways. Both sides could have been called for a bunch of holds and PI. I did not see anything that seemed to imply the officiating was egregiously in favor of LSU.

I think the officiating was fair, the announcers, not so much. My point was, maybe the DB knows when your beat, just dive at the WR’s feet and get them to stumble or lose concentration, knowing they would never call interference for touching his feet, that was an easy six.

Agree. I honestly believe Levi is the future. I think Bryson is a great athlete but his decision making has given me doubts about his ability to be a QB especially in crunch time.

Tune didn’t play great in the bowl but I thought he did pretty good for a true freshman against Memphis. Army ate his lunch but I also think having Briles out the door didn’t help.

I think Levi has a great arm and I have a feeling he will redshirt as a true freshman and then take the reigns after King graduates.

I though the same thing Doc. Looked like the dB was trying to take the pi instead of giving up the TD. Another smh moment.

Tell you what though I thought they did a pretty good job at limiting their run game. I think LSU averaged like 3 yards a carry.

They made a good number of stops/negative plays in the run D but gave up some big runs also. 161 total rush yards on 52 carries. Had s real hard time getting LSU off the field after Q1.

Well said P5. I hope some folks on here consider your perspective

Fouled from behind on a breakaway, should be a Flagrant 1. UCF should have had 2 free throws and retain possession of the ball.
