You gotta love Elvin. He’s almost like the team’s little kid brother. He participates in the grueling off season workouts; works hard in the weight room, does all the practices during the season just as hard as the starters, all knowing he will get limited time in a game, if at all. Teammates that check their ego at the door and embody the culture that CKS has created play a part of the chemistry that makes UH so good. His teammates certainly appreciate what he does, as their reaction when he makes a shot can attest.
He could start at a d2 school yet he CHOSE to be a Coog and play a bit part. I’m one of those folks who cheers loudly when he gets in.
Favorite new chant - You’ve been Elvined!
So you chose that wording to describe Elvin?
I will say that Ryan could go to a lower level, play a lot of minutes and score. He has chosen to stay here and be with this program.
To say “at best” is dumb. We already know he is walkon and isn’t in the rotation, hence why the crowd loves when he gets to play. It has always meant the game has gone very well.
How much Texas will score tomorrow? I say less then 65 +/- 5. We win the game by 15 +/- 5. Let’s go Coogs.
My ideal situation is the cows leave town beat up, embarrassed, and deaf!
The smart guys are smart- that’s pretty much it. And they did beat UH in football last year.
Dunn and especially Wilson are garbage time ball hogs. Elvin is not getting any shots this year.
It’s game day for real y’all!
Time to break the mug of the T-sips.
It’s game day!
LFGC!!!
Mega-cringe with the Elvin talk above…
Beat the hell out of Texas, can’t wait to get in the FC and make some noise
who steps up today?
I’d love to see Sharp or Cryer have a huge game
I’ve hitched my wagon to $harp… Hope he comes through on offense today!
Early game… Let’s go Kyleeeee!
These two articles clearly show on paper that a UH win should happen; but, as we have seen, college basketball is not all about making sense. Here’s hoping that it comes to fruition and the team comes out with fire in their eyes to continue the home advantage; but also with enough fire left for the bigger match up on Monday night.
EAT EM UP!!!
It’s not unusual for fans to pull for the known walk on underdog at any school. He’s also a human victory cigar. Fans are in a great mood when he’s in the game.
He’s not the first fan favorite like him at UH either. There was one when Penders was here too named Kyle Hatcher. The fans used to do the same thing there were just fewer of them most games. I can remember changing “we want KY-LE” from the student section.
You win the internet today
Does anyone know for sure what time the garage opens up? We have a small group planning on some pregame but not sure when it opens. Thanks in advance.
The last role player that I can remember that had as much crowd support as Ryan Elvin goes all the way back to the 1970s and Otis Birdsong’s roommate, Jim Perry. Jim was quite the character.
