Since my crystal ball is out of order, my guess is 5,000 or so. Just a hunch and the Deon factor.
We have trophies for three sports, football basketball, and baseball. Only one is close enough to be a rivalry (baseball).
Bayou Bucket: 35-12 UH
Bayou Cup: 66-18 UH
Silver Glove Trophy: 110-93 Rice
Remember, teams like #13 Florida lost to the AAC South Florida bulls.
You can’t take any opponent for granted, especially a team that beat Hou 2 yrs ago.
Are we currently holding all 3 trophies simultaneously?
NO he didnt! In 8 years at Tulane, he had 4 winning seasons, 3 losing seasons and one .500 season at 6-6. 4-3-1 is winning, not losing, and considering how bad Tulane was before he got there, it was a great accomplishment.

Are we currently holding all 3 trophies simultaneously?
Yes
We won the Silver Glove in 2025 and have held it for the past four years
Last time we lost in basketball was 2013
Last time we lost the Bayou Bucket was 2023
For those still complaining about the CWF offense…
Per Grok:
Top 10 Highest-Scoring Games by Teams Coached by Willie Fritz
“Willie Fritz has coached at multiple levels (FBS, FCS, Division II, and junior college), but his highest-scoring games come from his time at Tulane (FBS, 2016–2023), where his teams averaged over 30 points per game in peak seasons like 2022 (41.8 PPG). Below is the list of the top 10 highest points scored by his teams, based on available records. Note that comprehensive game-by-game data for earlier stops (e.g., Central Missouri, Sam Houston) is limited, but no games there exceeded 50 points. The list focuses on regular season and postseason games.”
Rank | Date | Team | Opponent | Score | Points Scored | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Oct 22, 2022 | Tulane | Memphis | 66–24 | 66 | Fritz’s highest-scoring game; part of Tulane’s 12–2 season and AAC title run. |
2 | Nov 12, 2022 | Tulane | Tulsa | 49–10 | 49 | Key win in 11–1 regular season; Tyjae Spears rushed for 158 yards. |
3 | Oct 15, 2022 | Tulane | Army | 49–24 | 49 | Michael Pratt threw for 3 TDs; Tulane’s offense exploded for 562 total yards. |
4 | Sep 24, 2022 | Tulane | Houston | 42–27 | 42 | Comeback OT win; Pratt passed for 289 yards and 3 TDs. |
5 | Nov 24, 2018 | Tulane | East Carolina | 42–10 | 42 | Bowl-eligible clincher; Tulane finished 7–6 and won the Cure Bowl. |
6 | Dec 2, 2023 | Tulane | SMU (AAC Championship) | 35–41 | 35 | Loss in title game; still earned Military Bowl berth (9–4 season). |
7 | Oct 29, 2022 | Tulane | Central Florida | 35–28 | 35 | Lone AAC loss; Pratt threw for 296 yards in high-scoring affair. |
8 | Dec 3, 2022 | Tulane | UCF (AAC Championship) | 45–28 | 45 | Conference title win; Pratt threw for 278 yards and 2 TDs. |
9 | Jan 2, 2023 | Tulane | USC (Cotton Bowl) | 46–45 | 46 | Epic comeback from 15 down; Pratt threw for 371 yards and 3 TDs. |
10 | Nov 25, 2023 | Tulane | UTSA | 38–30 | 38 | Road win; helped secure AAC West title and 11–2 record. |
“These games highlight Fritz’s emphasis on balanced offenses, particularly during Tulane’s 2022–2023 peak (23–4 record). Earlier teams like Georgia Southern (2014–2015) topped out around 40 points in wins but didn’t crack this list. For context, Fritz’s teams rarely scored over 50 points pre-Tulane due to lower-division styles.”
- We put up 35 today. One more tuddy would have put this game in Willie’s top 10. We can’t expect high scoring games frequently. I truly hope he changes his tune a little as we’re now competing to be ranked and make the CFP, but he doesn’t need a ton of points to win games.
You’re joking right?
Willie Fritz, across all levels, winning season count eclipse his losing season count. Here’s a quick stat drop:
Coaching Level | School | Winning Seasons | Losing Seasons | Split Seasons |
---|---|---|---|---|
Junior College | Blinn College | 4 | 0 | 0 |
NCAA Division II | Central Missouri | 11 | 2 | 0 |
FCS | Sam Houston State | 4 | 0 | 0 |
FBS | Georgia Southern | 2 | 0 | 0 |
FBS | Tulane | 5 | 3 | 1 |
FBS | Houston | 0 | 1 | 0 |
Combined Totals | All Levels | 26 | 6 | 1 |
Winning/Losing totals:
School | Record (Wins-Losses-Ties) | Winning Percentage |
---|---|---|
Blinn College (Junior College) | 39-5-1 | .887 |
Central Missouri (Division II) | 97-47-0 | .674 |
Sam Houston State (FCS) | 40-15-0 | .727 |
Georgia Southern (FBS) | 17-7-0 | .708 |
Tulane (FBS) | 54-47-0 | .535 |
Houston (FBS) | 4-8-0 (only includes last year) | .333 |
Dude wins where ever he goes, now it’s yet to be seen if he can do it on the P4 level but I partially like the way Houston is going.
Saying only 7 games above 500 at Tulane is disingenuous and misattributes what he had to build there.
This might be the best one taken in recent memory, great pic
I mean, Utah does play in Rice(-Eccles) Stadium, and have a logo that looks quite a lot like our old one. Easy mistake to make.
If I had to nitpick, I’d say winning 7-3 at the half is a little concerning. We’re going to find out a lot more about this team next week when Prime-time pays a visit!
If we go on to have a winning season, we will be super grateful for the way our season was scheduled. The gradual ramp up is what this team needed. Hopefully we’re ready for Colorado next week.

“the city of Houston is not named the city of Rice”
We cut back on our penalties from 8 to 2. Nice.
Rice is in West University Place
Just like SMU is in University Park, not Dallas.
Rice is not in the City of West University. It is in the City of Houston. Kirby Dr. Is the dividing line between Houston and West University.

Rice is not in the City of West University. It is in the City of Houston.
You are correct that Rice University is located in Houston but SMU is definitely located in University Park, TX though they use a Dallas address.

I copied from what was posted on U of H Athletics web site post game. Agree it is a great picture.
