Give Me a Reason

If you’re not happy, don’t do it. Nobody’s making you. Life is short, and weekends are shorter.

I think there’s joy to be had in supporting a crappy team, though. College Football is a beautiful, messy sport, and a lot of that happens at the bottom of the rankings, too. Falling in love with a wide receiver that only seems to catch touchdowns (he’ll catch 3 all season, but it’ll feel like more) that’s gonna be substitute teaching biology this time next year. Seeing some random nobody turn in the game of his life. Watching a guy and realizing that sure, the team sucks, but he’s gonna play on Sundays. There’s so much more to this sport than just wins and losses.

Its not fun, I’ll still go and watch. Misery loves company.

I wonder if Fritz is having Herman like doubts about taking this job.

He had a good thing going at Tulane

Ditto Cougarfred - Unfortunately we seem to live in a culture of immediate gratification.

These kids play hard and are good people. They work their butts off for our Houston Cougars. Thats all the reason you need if you are a true fan

No kidding. We’ve only been irrelevant for 7 years. What’s another 7? Microwave society, I tell ya.

Tulane wasn’t paying him what we are. He definitely isn’t regretting it.

Now does he regret not getting better QBs in the portal? Does he regret hiring Barbay as OC? Those are the questions i am curious about.

I actually understand why some people are ready to call it quits this season. To each his own. Sometimes, I ask myself.

Then I think of all those miserable decades with the basketball team, always renewing my seats, and was rewarded having my same seats for the first year in the B12.

For those saying instant gratification, my 1st season as a student was 1986 and I made it to all home and half away games that year. So I started off near UH’s worst. Been here ever since.

He wanted to leave to take the GA Tech job but didn’t. I don’t think he has any regrets. But I do feel like he is realizing this ain’t Tulane, this will be much of a harder tasks given the competition.

I feel ya. 1986 was a really tough year to be a Coog. Sad to watch CBY go 1-10 in his final season. But at least you got to enjoy the Run n Shoot era as a student and witness our first and only Heisman winner.

We’ve seen some highs and too many lows since then. But we’re still here…

Behold, I am become masochist, watcher of all UH football games.

Me too Law, but today was pretty depressing.
I can’t get over how uninspired we looked.
I was at the Ridge Point game today and I can tell after watching Carlisle I continue to believe our future is bright.
Btw Ridge Point has a huge showdown with unbeaten Hightower on Halloween night and I can’t wait to see how Carlisle performs under pressure.

Well, I can’t wait to see that guy in a UH uniform.

In my case, I have two other alma maters that are helping me with my current UH depression.

Illinois is 6-1 and in the top 25, and CWRU is 6-0 in Division III.

Just the Coogs for me but I have ridden out these storms before.

I’ve got nowhere else to go!

Bring an extra bottle of scotch to next week’s tailgate. Reason enough.

It’s my school, and I’m always going to follow them and support them. Sports is like life in that there will be peaks and valleys, and how we respond to to the valleys says more about us than how we respond to the peaks. Of course folks are free to watch or not watch the games, but let’s just hang in there and look ahead to better days.

1986 was my first year also. We’ve been around a while.

Go Coogs!!

Honestly it won’t make a difference to any of us on the board. Do whatever you please with your free time. If you have projects at home then focus on that. We won’t know if you are watching or not.
