According to one of my well placed sources there are other West Coast teams not currently in the PAC that are pushing hard to get into the Big 12. Doubt much will come of it but nice to know others are dying to get a seat at our table. Things have really changed for us in the last couple of years.
Oh I’m sure all those non PAC West Coast schools which I’m assuming means MWC would commit multiple felonies to get out of the MWC and into the Big 12. Just like I’d assume we would do whatever it took to get upgraded into one of the two premier conferences of the was an actual prayer and list of things to make that happen.
All I am doing is reporting what I’m hearing.
Here’s another tidbit:
Wash oregon cal and Stanford prob to big 10
I think that tidbit is spot on and seems to be a direction most speculators are coalescing around. Makes me think that this is going to be a swift and brutal death of the PAC. The PNW and the Cardinal bolt, we take the some of the four corners or all if that’s how it plays out. If the networks pay you enough to take Cal do it otherwise them and the state schools can merge with MWC maybe keep the more valuable PAC banner.
Please rename thread to: SDSU and UNLV begging for Big12 invite.
Include Boise in there to
I’d rather have Oregon State and Wazzu than Cal. Those are fun schools with a decent fanbase.
But if it somehow increases per school payout… F it…
Yeah pretty much, whoever adds dollars to the contract.
My personal preference that I’ve come around to. If we do get to go after the four corners you get CU, UA as toppriorities. Then I think you cut the PAC at the knees by grabbing who the networks tell you it’s the most valuable potential replacement we’ll call it SDSU for now. Then it’s whoever the networks tell you to add for positive revenue or you reserve the extra slots for the ACC carving later down the road.
Who cares if Boise, SDSU, UNLV, Colorado State and Fresno are begging to join the Big 12???
That is a hard NO!
We add 4 P5 schools from the PAC and 4 P5 schools from the ACC to get to 20.
We can’t waste our selections on scrubs.
It seems a new thread has been created to discuss the same ideas and post the same comments that are on a number of other similar threads
It would be interesting if they were actually more interested in us than the Pac-12 all things considered.
We should consider all applicants with an open mind.
But I strongly suspect that, absent done change in circumstance, the answer is going to be “no” to those schools.
We shouldn’t consider all applicants with an open mind.
First, we haven’t played one down in the conference yet. We have worked decades to be in an elite place. We have worked decades to re-build from our disasters. We have worked decades to start building worthy facilities.
We have worked decades to get a little bit of respect.
Now, we should consider every Tom, Richard and Harry that comes along. No, No, No, hell, No.
We are not joining Big 12, for it to become the American or C-USA.
(By the by, as they say in the old country. I used the name Richard above because apparently the name normally used there is on the banned list.)
No G5s.
You do not hear Big 12 EVER mention any current G5s…Their targets are P5 schools…G5 schools are strictly board talk…
Just like we use to be lol no G5’s listen to us lol
That’s right.
Let’s take care of ourselves for once. For a little while before we help Rice, Tulane and SMU.
I have a hard time imagining Rice, Tulane, or SMU helping the conference. Hear them out, but I don’t know what argument they could make.
I do not have a hard time imagining that SDSU might, as part of a western block. I don’t think it is the case, but we should not dismiss the idea because OMG G5 G5 G5!!!
Thank heavens the Big 12 is better at thinking about this than a lot of folks here or else they absolutely would have stopped at 10 because OMG G5 G5!!! Instead, they evaluated G5 candidates and found that more than two had enough potential to add value.
If we add a bunch of teams that are entirely reliant on California recruiting, it’s folly to dismiss what is arguably the best available candidate in that state. We should know better than anyone that inviting G5 schools is not about charity.
Jim - thanks for sharing the information from your West Coast source.
Utah gave Ohio State all they wanted in their bowl game. Arizona has a heck of a basketball team. I would take those two and call it a day. If the other PAC12 schools go to the BIG, then the conference is a wounded animal.
That’s the Cougar way. Way waste a topic on one thread when you can use 5.
For all those who think the PAC is going away it’s not. It’ll be reconstituted with other FB programs probably from the MWC. Conference USA shows its hard to kill a conference they just absorbed new teams from the lower tier division to stay intact. Even the old BE reconstituted as the AAC and the new BE BB League.
