I’ll be honest I don’t really understand that list. It was basically 9 great programs and A&M. If the time span were the last twenty years I could understand the inclusion of programs like Miami, USC, and UT but stretching it back 35 years means they all have national titles and a ton of success. A better list would’ve included programs like Oregon and Ole Miss imo.
The only difference with yesterday is that it is now in the open. Nothing has changed.
It’s both more open and bigger than ever before.
There’s a reason Saban stepped down.
He knows that in the NIL era, mega brands with mega money like UT and Ohio State will jump ahead of Bama.
Is he coming back in? The media wants us to believe it. You are forgetting USC by the way their 2026 class is #1.
He’d better go to THAT SIZED brand if he does.
atm was arguably the biggest spender of all. what happened with atm?
ZERO championships and so far uta has ZERO championships.
Keep pointing that out to legacy members of the Sec and watch their heads explode. They’re already deeply resentful of Texas.
The reality is nobody is matching it today. Listening to a BurntOrange podcast, I learned why it might appear to some UT has recently been out muscled by other NIL big spenders. Truth is they have more million dollar players spread across their rosters than anybody else in the country. A good chunk of their NIL is spent on retention of those million dollar players. It’s why they’re the odds on favorite to win it all this season.
UT has been in the final four the last two years and is seen as the favorite to win it all this year. They seem to have righted the ship.
Different story with A&M. Seems like no amount of money will ever make them not a pretend 8 win program.
Of course, they seem to be the favorite in the pre-season polls every year and have been but yes, being in the “playoff” the last two years is a significant step closer.
I mean surprisingly they’ve never been the preseason #1. I think they were perennially overrated in the 2010’s but they’ve landed on a good coach now and just kind of seem to have their **** together. Now calling them overrated feels forced.
Never!!!
Maybe they’ll miss the playoffs this year and win me back over lol
