My key early in the season is how well the OL gels. Fritz wants to be able to establish a running game. The OL opens the holes. Fritz wants to throw to have a balanced attack. If the OL can pass block, the QB can get the throws to receivers.
Anticipation breeds speculation. Let the games begin.
My perception was that Smith was interception happy as well. Then I thought so was Tune until his SR year and the switch got flipped on. So I looked at those stats and decided my perception was a little inaccurate. Perhaps thatās the case here as well. So Iām gonna sit back and give the young man a chance. What else am I gonna do? Go to practice and say: āKid, Iāve been watching you knowing all the while this stuff is easier than it looks. Gimme the ball and let me show you how itās done.ā
Donovan Smith 256-397
64.5% completion
13 INTS 22TDS
Coach Fritz has done this stuff a while and heās better than average at what he does and he seems to believe Donovan is his best choice. Iām good with him running the show over my skill at doing that. The hand has been dealt now we must play it out.
GO COOGS
Tank made Tune job alot easier. Tank stayed open and Tune rarely needed to look off any defense. Salute to their chemistry. But I see what you mean, I hope you are right.
Season depends on starting QB. He either continues throwing pick and we end up 4-8 or he gets better at ball security and we play in the big12 championship.
He simply needs take his trade seriously. He has the ability to become great but needs to stop being careless with the ball.
We also need to hope that our already very bad defense that only returns two starters will somehow miraculously be better, and that we can build a good Oline with only one returning starter to give the QB you mentioned enough time to throw, and also open enough holes for the running game.
I hope that we achieve all that, but it seems like a tall order.
Sounds nice except Iām not sure how you can already be predicting nice weather. I hope youāre right but Iām still worried about more hurricanes/tropical storms in August and September.
True the weather has been a little crazy, flash flooding today in Galveston, but take a chance on an August evening, it will be exciting. I canāt wait. I will be at Life Members tailgate early in Alumni Center.
It is a ripple affect on football teams. The four phases work together (including coaching). Especially the QB play directly affects the team defense. I do not believe the the offensive line was bad. Donovan threw a bunch of interceptions at Tech as well. Ask CJ Stroud if you need great O-line play to be positively productive.
CWF seems to have the Yeoman vibe that it is us against the world. The underdog mantra Coogs carry well. Yeoman was able to take players that wanted to be here, and make them better to where they would ārun through a brick wallā for him. Great to hear from the players that the culture is changing.
