Herman angling for Houston Return? - Dan Wetzel, Yahoo!

At the 1:00:27 mark of the College Football Enquirer Podcast, Dan Wetzel from Yahoo mentions quickly that Herman is trying to get back to Houston. Wetzel doesn’t normally have scoops, but his good friend Pete Thamel does, and Thamel mentioned spending time with Wetzel over the weekend.

Make of it what you will.

Why would he want to come back?

ik that the fanbase is divided on him, but I really don’t see why he would want to come back here and why our administration would want to, considering the way he left, and the way he supposedly bad-mouthed the Program to Thamel when we got rid of his buddy, Applewhite.

Besides, wasn’t Herman partially responsible for inadequate Roster Management, using up players’ Red Shirts, etc?

If anything, Herman will go to Cincinnati

The ex got dumped and is running back to her ex, tail between her legs, apologizing profusely, professing eternal love.

What kind of an idiot do you take us for? No!

Don’t think there’s much to this…just heard the clip, and the guy says “He’s [Tom Herman] trying to get back to Houston, I thought.

That’s literally the only thing they said about Herman/Houston.

For context, this is near the end of the podcast & they’re just throwing up names for the next Cincinnati Coaching Candidate, saying that the Ohio State > Cincy coaching pipeline may continue after Fickle, and that’s how THerman’s name was thrown up in the air.

I wouldn’t read into this too much.

No.

Herman never wanted to be here to begin with. This program was nothing more than a stepping stone to him.

His wife didn’t like Houston, so don’t think so. I liked his buzz and coaching staff but don’t think its going to happen.

Probably Rice if Stanford hires Blomgren. HCU also has an opening.

Dude has a huge ego…you know he wants to stick it to TU anyway possible and he knows what a gold mine UH can be. NEVER thought I’d say this in a million years ( either lost my mind or mellowing out with age and we’ve all had jobs regretted leaving in hindsight )…I’d take Herman in a nano second over this dud HC we have now and have him hire Coach Levine as that man could recruit no doubt

So he could build his resume and look for a more lucrative offer elsewhere.

If he did come back it would be hard for me to see a role for him. There’s no way the higher ups let him be head coach and he isn’t a brilliant offensive mind and I don’t think his ego would let him be a coordinator. Maybe he could be a recruiting specialist? He needs to get another G5 head coaching job and stick around a few years in my opinion.
