I’ve been around and I am very active on social media. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snap. I understand how it is used in recruiting and what can be done.
The HC having a large presence on social media is not a factor.
This is not a Holgorsen defense, this is a general statement.
We can agree to disagree which is fine. End of the day it was an honest question.
I wasn’t asking about personal person to person I just meant general program promotion. I’m sure he is messaging on there.
What it reflects is that from an overall perspective, the players and coaches have bought into the culture of the coaching staff. It is extremely hard for any team to have the type of year that we had last year (ie tough losses, consistent extracurricular turmoil, etc) and still continue to work hard each week. While we took some losses, I was proud to see the effort each week. Character building
Oh that’s so funny! Chris Paul Fake Laughs at Steve Kerr - YouTube
Or video meetings. Zoom works pretty good for that.
Chambers to McNeese State. Really?
Keep in mind if he doesn’t have his degree yet, FCS was best route for him. There are many many players past & present who came out of FCS Schools and were/are in the NFL.
Rather he gone to SHSU.
Hi Coogcheese and friends, I can clarify a lot of what is going on with Isaiah Chambers going to McNeese because my husband and I know him very well and are in weekly communication with him. He is a wonderful young man by the way and my husband and I love him!! He will be graduating with his Communications Degree from UH at the end of May then he’s on his way to McNeese. He’s a smart guy and hard worker in both academics and football. Just before the world shut down to COVID19 he had been receiving communications/interest from Boise State, Texas Tech, Louisiana Tech and three other schools I can’t remember. He was scheduled to visit several of those but the only one he was able to visit was McNeese. After he returned from his visit to McNeese he told me and my husband that it was a great visit. He really liked the coaches and it felt like a good fit for him. Yes, McNeese is a very small football program but Isaiah knows his mind and he wanted to be close to home, get a lot of playing time, make a big impact in the program and then try out for NFL. His Auntie who raised him after his Mom died when he was 14 years old is in Houston and that was why he transferred from Texas Tech to UH. She has kidney disease and he wants to be close to her. McNeese is a two hour drive from Houston. That is not the only reason he choose McNeese. Coach Frank Wilson is apparently a great mentor and father figure to his players. He’s coached at Ole Miss and LSU and his reputation in Louisiana is top of the line and he is respected and well liked. He makes commitments to his players and walks them all the way through the process towards the NFL as he’s done with many of his former players. I have it on good authority from a very reliable source in the Louisiana football community that Frank Wilson is an honest person and Isaiah believes him. Jess22 I think Sam Houston was also showing interest but Isaiah really liked McNeese. I hope people on this forum can show some kindness towards this young man who is trying to find his way in the world. Have a great day!
Great write up Peggy. Thanks for the info.
Thank you Jess!
Holgerson is the coach for at least four years. Tilman isn’t going to have the $$$$ to buy him out any sooner than that.
don’t think anyone/myself is implying that he needs to go already.
Let’s hope for the best then!!!
He will get at least 3 yrs to prove he can be successful HC @ UH.
I have no idea what the deal was with Chambers and why he didn’t mesh here. I wish him well at McNeese and life in general. Sometimes things just don’t work out and it didn’t for Chambers here or at TCU. Maybe he will do better at McNeese; for his sake, I hope so.
He left tcu and has now left UH and his problems seem to be following him. Now headed to mcneese state which is a huge step down from where he has been.
He was also called out by one of his teammates on social media for transferring.
The kid has issues he needs to resolve and this is likely his last chance.
People on this forum should show kindness towards all of the young men who play for UH (and actually those that choose not to play for UH as well). Coaches are fair game in my opinion but a certain level of maturity should be maintained in doing that even.
It’s a shame that it takes someone with a personal connection to a player for people to rise to what should be the normal level of decorum.
Good luck to Isaiah.
