Honest Thoughts about the Team

Not the star player, no. I saw him hit 22 against BYU, the staff should have at least noted that, so I know he had it in him. Then, he did it again. I was at the game, he was too open, too often. They didn’t do a good job defending him. Your original question was who saw him hitting 22 against us.

But at this point I would rather have Ramon and Chase play all the backup minutes over Harwell

Krivas and Awaka were in serious foul trouble most of the 2nd half.

Not gonna happen… Harwell is too good on D.

We just need to hope he hits a few shots and the floodgates open.

My simplistic take: we’re a great team that almost always plays a good to very good game. Thats enough to beat most teams including good teams playing great games and great teams playing good gsmes.

The last step we haven’t seen is beating a great team playing a great game by us playing great. We just haven’t shown that we can play to our potential. I don’t know if that’s something our elite opponents do to us or something we don’t do. But we have to figure out how to rise above good play to great play

If we continue to have no scoring threat in the paint. I’d like to see more Mercy. He is fearless driving the basket

This team has looked great at times. It certainly has the talent, but there are some serious inconsistencies. The Iowa State loss came down to Milo’s missing a free-throw, which they responded with two three-pointers in a row and we had no response.
Tough game in the road it happens move on

I was at the Arizona game on Saturday. It was very concerned, but what I saw maybe it’s just a one off bad performance and good teams like Arizona can make you look a lot less impressive than you would be

Here’s what I see
Chris CENAC is great at times, but very inconsistent he seems to disappear.
He has huge potential I don’t remember which game it was. It may be Iowa State, but I saw him execute it look like Akeem dream shake at the post but more often than not he’s taking jump shots. A lot of three-pointers that miss I would like to see him more aggressive. There was a stretch in the Iowa State game where he got a four consecutive offensive rebounds so you know he can do it, but on offense, I don’t wanna ever see him with the bond, his hands at the three-point line again.

JoJo‘s progression this season was hampered by his injury getting sick. He continues to struggle getting stupid fouls and I know he’s trying not to Safeco. The backup is very inconsistent and all of this combine and leads to a very weak Court. We are a jumpshot team relying on guards to make jump shots layups

I think I think Harwell is injured as well. He may. He seems to attempt 4 to 6 three-point pointers per game but only make one. Marcy Miller is the most productive in terms of minutes per points for vice versa but he gets so few limited minutes. The coach seems to get mad at him when he makes a boat headed play on defense and pulls them out of the game it doesn’t give him enough minutes Ramon maybe maybe knocks down one three-pointer per game and maybe McCarty will make one or two but our best offensive players in the bench or Harwell and Miller and we are not getting enough out of them. Harwell had one big game where he had 18 points. Maybe the injury has limited his ability sensitive Miller is so capable, but his minutes are so limited. I would like to see him play more a lot. I’d like to see less of McCartney and Walker.

Put the bottom line is this team success is completely line upon three people sharp Flemings and Uzan. They’re making shots we win and when they don’t, Emmanuel Sharp needs to stay out of trouble
Flemings needs to get rest let Harwell and Miller play the backward together for at least six minutes a game so the Flemmings is rested. I think his conditioning being Young is caught up to him. He seemed really tired at the end of games who is that? I don’t know he shot just seems to be off sometimes a lot of time. The turnovers lately have been a real problem. Arizona came right actress into the Pain 38 points in the Pain they score before we can even set up our defense and that’s the key be aggressive against Houston go to the basket before they can set up their defense get rebounds. They looked bigger stronger and faster. There was a sequence in the second half where our guys got thrown to the ground trying to get a rebound replaced in a row where guys hit the deck hard and no foul was called on Arizona, but I think it’s partly because Arizona had a position they were at the ball first we were just a step slow.

I am losing faith that we do not have an inside offensive player. Had hoped JoJo would had figured out how to play in the paint and score. Did not happen. Oh well!

We “hunt matchups.”

You have Uzan who cant get by anyone.

The staff needs an Offensive Coordinator. Ask any staff, it aint hard to scout Houston Offensively

Did something happen that we don’t know about? Are we behind on NIL payments?

Have we hit rock bottom and are about to go on a tear the rest of the way!?

Sorry I don’t see any path at present to go on a tear. I hope we do. But don’t see it

I’d bet that falling apart and losing to ISU had a major mental impact on this team. Clearly more than any of us imagined because they look completely different

I posted this on the game thread. Something must be going on. This is not the basketball we have grown accustomed to enjoy!

“Coog fans we’ve got problems! Seems like out locomotive has derailed. We are playing with no fire nor inspiration! Right now at least 4 teams in the big 12 are playing much better than we are. That doesn’t bode well for March Madness. I sure hope Coach isn’t getting tired, but our team surely isn’t playing with the fire of previous teams.”

With all these players now getting eligibility after going pro, is it possible that we can bring Cryer and Juwan back?

We played 3 really good teams in a row. We lose to Colorado (which we won’t) and all bets are off on what might be or is going on. We look like a Sweet 16 ish team right now give or take a round. Obviously not the title contender we hoped for at this point.

We had these same threads last year when we lost to 2/3 in Vegas. We had one moron claim we wouldn’t win 15 games last season. College sports fans (this isn’t unique to our fans) are some of the softest babies ever, any sign of adversity and they go off the rails crying.

I’d be happy with a S16. Keeps our steak alive.

I promised I never would, but it fits.

Houston, we have a problem.

Our 3 bigs aren’t getting into foul trouble the second half of the season like they did the first half (or like many traditional Sampson teams). I find this odd. Could part of our problem be that the bigs just aren’t playing scrappy enough which would manifest in more fouls, yes, but also more offensive rebounds, defensive blocks, and overall hustle type plays.

Are we playing too clean defensively for our trademark scrappy style? If so is this coaching trying to keep us healthy or shift philosophy a bit or is that more on player execution?

I need a final four ticket!

go COOGS
