Hill: difference was that was in November, not February
we’re definitely broken… not playing at a February level for a whole game
we opened the game on fire, they missed 10 of their first 11 shots, if not for free throws it would have been on track for a blow out in the other direction
Jojo hasn’t learned to play w/o fouling
we can’t win with Jojo on the bench for 25 minutes a game
Sharp hit 8 threes vs Utah and then has gone frigid, can’t win with him going 1-fer
The take no prisoners Flemings that was on track for solid 20 per game isn’t driving enough, cant win with him not going acrobatic on basket driving moves
Can’t win with no bench production
lots of shots hit front of rim tonight - that’s sign of no legs
maybe this 3 game stretch killed us
maybe the softer practices to try to limit injuries has killed us

I really hate using this phrase too but I’m going for it. Houston, we have a problem. Let’s hope they’re getting the losses out of their system now.
We also played Bama and SDSU in front of a 1/3rd full arena in Vegas vs Hilton and AFH. Both on Big Monday. Tonight’s loss was worrisome, we do look tired. I posted last week that we have to get something out of Mercy/Chase/Harwell Chase was supposed to be a 3 point sniper but he’s been really bad from 3. Isiah plays great D but his injury seems to have torpedoed his O. Mercy has at least shown flashes.
We get 5 days off and the fans get rewarded with a shitty 11am tip-off. Ugh. Hopefully some rest let’s then regroup for the final regular season push,
Also congrats to AZ who wrapped up the big 12 tonight. Well deserved they are clearly the best team in the league this year.

Given the success the last two years, could it be that Sharp, Uzan and Tugler devalue the regular season and are waiting for the NCAA Tournament? I hope not. That would be a terrible example to set for the younger players.

Mercy was our 2nd leading scorer (technically tied with Cenac who scored with no time left).
Hell, Sakho had as many points as Tugler, 1 less than Sharp, and 3 less than Uzan

This has been the same team all season. Zero low post play, Zero ability to play out of the low post. Tugler isn’t good enough, Cent isn’t strong enough. Good defensive teams like the last 3 keep UH on the 3 point line. It is very difficult with personal to get the ball to the rim. All that being said, UH will finish 14-4 and 2nd place in the conference.

I agree. No inside game. Tugler should have one but just hasn’t developed it.

Tugler’s multiple off season injuries have kept him for developing his offense in the off seasons.

11am…Gonna be a lot of empty seats. Hard to get people there with good start times. Colorado at 11am and Baylor late at 8pm??? Not much juice there except for the die hards.
Cenac wants to hang out in 3 pt.-land and Tugler has no offense with his back to the basket. I have to believe the coaching staff thought Tugler would improve enough to play with his back to the basket. Tugler’s foul trouble is clearly hurting his development, and the team’s competitiveness. I am very curious to see how Sampson manages Tugler in the Tournaments. Most likely what he is doing now, giving Tugler a short chain and benching him for early fouls.
