Hoping to Come Down for UU - UH FB Game

If there is an arranged pre-game spot for Ute fans, then you can split the costs of Uber/Lyft.

I typically do this if I am at the same hotel as other Coog fans as we are all going to the same place eventually.

I remember saving money by splitting Uber fares with some other Coogs in Atlanta before the Peach Bowl.

Another thought since it is just fly in fly out. Once you pick your hotel, talk it up on the Ute boards and see if you can get others that are coming in to stay at the same hotel, then that allows for a group rental for a ride from the airport. Then party on the train together from the hotel to game back to hotel.

PS. both hotels choices look like they would be easy with them right on the purple line to go straight to the stadium.

Fly hobby airport it is literally 10 or so minutes from the stadium. If you get caught in kingwood traffic youll be cussing

Tbh thats where id stay too, southeast houston, youll get a decent room for way cheaper and the drive is way closer than you think

You may want to consider calling your airlines ahead of time and arranging a wheelchair to and from the gates. It is really helpful, especially if you have mobility issues.

Be ready for the weather. It’s sort of like sitting in a wet sauna with the heater on. You may want to come down a couple of days early to get acclimated. HYDRATION HYDRATION HYDRATION

He might want to consider just staying home and watching on TV, expensive he says and health issues probably not worth all the hassle

Well if you are really strapped for cash, there are hostels.

Havig been stationed in my Navy Corpsman years in both Hampton Roads and Camp LeJeune, I understand that heat/humidity thing all too well. But at least this game isnt in August or September!

While I am absolutly young at heart, I dont know that a 62 y.o. man at the hostel wouldnt ruffle some serious feathers! LOL

Try to get a handicap section, they are actually pretty sweet and some of the only seats in the stadium in the shade. They got tvs too with games around the country

Folks I am grateful for all the kind feedback… But as a single dude, I end up taking it in the shorts since I dont have a travel/hotel buddy… It would cost me over 1000$$ for a 3 day trip, not including the ticket, and of course ground transport, food, etc. As a disabled vet on nothing but VA/SSDI I simply cannot waste that sort of money for one game.

The flight was actually a good deal more than I was expecting… but then I havent flown since 2011 LOL… I knew things were nuts, but not THIS nuts.

First of all, thank you for your service to our country Utahrangerone. I know all of us Coogs are grateful.

I’m sorry you can’t come down to visit but here’s hoping you’ll make your way to Houston someday.

It’s going to be a great game regardless, whether in person or on TV. Looking forward to it.

Keep checking flights as it gets closer. They do go up and down a lot on prices.

Same with travelosity and expedia, but I’d just extend stay or motel 6

DannyCougar… unfortunately… my lack of transport or ability to Drive limits the options… but then, it just isnt worth the cost overall… But gain thanks to all for the generosity of spirit and info. Maybe some day

Hi Utahrangerone, As a UH alumni, I just purchased tickets to the UH - Utah game, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. (I live in Reno. NV) I am attending with a BYU fan and his wife, who live in Elko, NV. We are driving across the Great Salt Lake Desert. What should I visit or attend, while in the Provo-Salt Lake City area?

I cannot recommend anything in Utah County area (Provo) since I havent set foot in that valley in 15 years or more.

fAs dar as SLC goes, it depends on your interest and what amount of time, and time of day you will be here. I’ll kick in my old Olympic Volunteer training once I have that info.
