I’d like for us to sign JV.
Second half of the season his ERA was less than 3 and the fastball was poppin’.
I think his mentorship with Hunter was a positive and could be of value to Blubaugh and Arrighetti as well.

Had some success in the fall….I think Hicks and Brito would be great in the pen….Hicks can pitch and is pretty polished….would be a nice middle relief arm.
Brito has power stuff….still walks too many has a profile similar to a young Abreu.
You have a pen with Hader, Abreu, Brito and Pearson….thats bringing serious smoke….paired with King, Okert and Sousa from the left side….”Potential “ to be a top 10 pen.
Sullivan is similar to Cole……lots of raw tools.
The kid walks a ton….so if the hit tool shows up he can be really good.
I said last year that I thought Bush would turn out to be better than Janek….he did make it to AA ahead of Walker, but as a 1st rounder Janek is gonna get every opportunity.
I think that 7-game series with the Dodgers caused some recency bias with the Jays. If they win that game I don’t think they make that deal. I’m sure their fans were hammering them about being “one stud pitcher too light.” And they panicked. That 2/10ths of a billion dollars riding on the sinew, muscle, and tendons of one guy’s arm. I get the psychology but thats too much money to invest in a pitcher. Dangerous living, lads.
“Meyers is drawing plenty trade interest, per the report, and Houston brass is open to moving him if it’d mean adding a starter with multiple years of club control remaining.”
Didn’t we say that about three or four weeks ago?
Strike while the iron is hot.
Astros get 28th pick for HB finishing top three in Cy Young.
Other first rounder around #15….
Been awhile since we had two picks this high.
Hopefully Dana makes them count. I think this expressly why Crane was interested in bringing over Brown.
Never heard of the guy….thanks for the information….also, glad you started a new topic for this.
Guess you don’t don’t what “Hot Stove” means.
Wait, there are teams actually interested in trading for Sanchez, and he’s still on the roster? ![]()
Astros Have Received Interest In Jesus Sanchez - MLB Trade Rumors
You know how the Astros are known around the league as the “pitching whisperers”….
Well, we are the exact opposite of that with hitters….never seen a team where 80% of the batters had absolutely no plan when they stepped in the box.
So maybe some of these teams figure they can buy low and fix him.
I think the new hitting coaches are going to have a positive impact on the Astros moving forward, but they have their work cut out for them.
I’m all for it. ![]()
It can’t be much worse.
Our first base position probably has more SO’s over the last two seasons than all the leadoff hitters in the division combined.
Also trying to trade Jake ( lots of interest) and Jesus( some interest).
Also, would not be surprised if JV signs with Astros.
The Astros are in a spot where they kind of need to sign JV to provide some bit of stability to the starting rotation. As long as the price is right, that would free them up to make complimentary additions rather than being kind of desperate to fill spots.
JV in SF.
29 starts with 159 innings.
4 and 11.
3.85 ERA.
2.99 second-half ERA.
11th best in MLB.
34 wins away from 300.
MLB .com mentioned White Sox, Dodgers, Reds and Royals.
Today CBS
Looks like something might happen today….Dana says they have some things getting lined up( paraphrasing)
Roddery Munoz-Rule 5 pick today.
Has some nasty stuff and put up good numbers in AAA, just has not put it together in MLB.
His stuff is certainly better than Ort,or the other 10 guys that got a shot at the last spot or two in the BP last year.
Dana must think they can sprinkle some magic dust on him because he has to stay on the big league roster all season.
