Houston Astros 2023 Season on a daily roll

The 70’s were a great decade but watching Dusty living in that era is maddening.

Scoring TWO runs is an outburst.

Its the Mariners, Rangers, and Blue Jays against Dusty’s lineups. I think we can win it but we need Diaz to average 3 ab’s per game from here on out. Same goes for Chas.

He is today Goose!

And Yainer busting his tail out of the box to get that double……Chas hitting to the right side to move the runner over….great job.

Complete non-sense.

So taking the day off in a critical series is supposed to get Alvarez mentally right?? How about giving him the night off in the 7th game of the ALCS?! That’s a de-stressor.

Today, Javier reclaimed his dominance.

RP shut them down.

Peña, Diaz and Dubon were today’s heroes.

Don’t forget Chas……that was a very professional AB….

The Astros need to sweep the Royals.

I hope the D-backs pound the Yankees and White Sox so that last weekend series with the Astros is meaningless to them. They will have the second WC wrapped up and they will be resting players.

Otherwise the Astros finish the year with the Royals (need to sweep), the Mariners (need I say more), D-Backs (good team fighting for a playoff spot at home).

The Stros really screwed up with the Royals and A’s series.

Man, you can go back through the season and find a bunch of games and series that fit this description. If Dusty hadn’t been of a mind to “sacrifice” so many games back then, we wouldn’t be in this spot.

I think this mindset that Dusty has is part of what ails the Astros. Instead of being a bunch of hard-chargers and grinders focused on winning every day, they’re a bunch of mañanas.

The person that needed to be “rested” was Dusty.

The last couple of series with the A’s and Royals stand out to the average fan….but you are 100% right when you look back throughout the season where games were “Dustied”.

How many game 3’s of series where we had won the first two and then Dusty started every guy on the bench for game three….without looking I bet we blew at least 6-7 potential sweeps.

The games where Dusty made horrible pitching decisions either by leaving a pitcher in too long even though it was obvious to everyone the guy was gassed….or bringing in Montero in a high leverage situation? I’d say we had about a 25% success rate there.

And then just the shear amount of games where Chas and Yainer sat on the bench.
I was looking at stats yesterday and neither one of these guys are even close to “qualifying “ for batting categories……but yet they are still top 5 at their positions in almost every category.
Yainer would be the Silver Slugger for crying out loud.

Even with all the injuries this team could have won the division by 8-10 games.

I hate that mentality. That bide your time, we’re in it for the long haul bull#%.

I wonder if there was any pushback from Yordan. I imagine there are a number of players that would’ve told Dusty to eat s*** up .5 game in the playoff race with only 9 games to go. Not to mention they have today off.
