Houston Astros 2023 Season on a daily roll

Call me a sceptic. I only know of maybe two players (Altuve and Brantley) with the caché to pull it off and I think they’re both pacifists. Maybe Bregman.

I don’t think Yordan has the stones to do it. I wish he did. Although Tucker seems like a smartazz. He might be a dark horse. Biggio sure would have. Berkman, too. Keuchel for sure.

I should’ve been more specific. By veterans I meant other players in the league. Verlander is probably the only one I could see saying something but he’s not a position player so I can’t see it on this squad. I don’t think Dusty would even ask Biggio or Bagwell. They might’ve taken a swing at him.

Also kudos to Pressly’s 9 pitch 9th inning.

Confidence builder.

In baseball, the stats equal dollars. Why are players ok with taking ABs away from them?

Bregman for sure.

That’s why he’s played in EVERY game this year….don’t see Dusty sitting him down for a rest.

BTW, did anyone notice Bregman has put up a monster year? He’s actually only .11 from winning the Silver Slugger and most of his stats are top 3-4 in the league for 3rd baseman.

BA-.266, OBP-.367, OPS-.813, BB-87, K-83

R-98, HR-24, RBI-96

WAR- 5.1

That’s a helluva season.

It certainly is. He’s so damn good that when he turns it up you don’t notice it. I was the guy wondering if he was on the downward side in the spring.

What do you think Funk? The nook?

Yes. Indeed.

Just imagine how much better his stats would be if he wasn’t batting .215 against left handed pitchers.

Yeah, Bregman’s 0 days off tells me all I need to know about the guys who are resting now.

Better sweep KC here before 3 on the road at Seattle and then the final 3 at Arizona which ain’t going to be a cake walk

Yea. The margin in paper thin. Go on a mini losing streak and you could lose it all.

Toronto is statistically ahead of us in the wildcard. First time since he left that I’m rooting for Cole. Also, I didn’t realize they play all three games at the higher seed’s park in the wildcard.

The good news is Mariners and Rangers play each other like 6 more times….hopefully they go 3-3.

Toronto goes down tonight. This is going to get real interesting with them having 6/9 left with a Tampa Bay team playing for a division title and 1st round bye.

They actually play each other seven times.

We NEED to sweep KC and hope that neither the Rangers or Mariners win 5 of the seven games they play.

Looking at the Rangers schedule I’m seeing 6 against Mariners and 3 against Angels….is there a make-up game of some sort?

But yes, anything less than a sweep against the Royals will likely come back to haunt them.

I’m hoping with “the way they won” that last game that will have them fired up for the rest of the season. :crossed_fingers:

Y’all know we aren’t sweeping anyone, right? Especially not the worst team in baseball.

MAYBE the Mariners since they swept us at home earlier - that’s kind of how we roll.

I could see us winning the first two and then Dusty resting a few guys and losing game 3.

I do know whenever Jordan Lyles pitches we better HAMMER him……so tired of this team making tomato cans look like Cy Young.
