Well, he’s getting a lot of singles in winter ball…not sure I would call it raking (just three extra base hits overall, no homers, in 17 games, which is a little surprising to me given the extra-base power is a strength of his), but he is walking a lot and getting on base, at least. Like I said, I like him…just think they’re gonna try and keep the window open for next year, and they should.
Guaranteed he is working on walks and OBP….he did the same thing in a previous winter ball season.
Two strike approach, going to RF, etc. these are the things that guys should be working on.
He has easy power….if he continues to improve his approach he can be special.
It’s okay Jay….we can disagree….its okay if you are wrong.
Hey, man…I am definitely willing to defer to you when it comes to judging the talent at the minor league level. I know you’ve seen these guys a lot more up close than I have, and that definitely counts for something. I am not that lucky, so, therefore have just the numbers, resources, scouting reports and limited view from above to go off of. But if Dezenzo comes up next year and produces, I’ll be the first to bow down and kneel before Zod!
I have seen him at CC many times….spoken to him a couple of times.
He is not a Richard….just a hard nose player with big goals.
I am not going to go all in 100% like I did with Yainer but I’m pretty confident in him.
And please do not defer to me for anything….the back and forth is great.
I wonder if that last paragraph is the smartest thing to say while they are both currently still on your roster.
It’s the truth.
I like that Dana at least tells it like it is……now I want to see him TCB.
It’s the truth, for sure but can disgruntle them for the season if a trade does not happen.
Those guys are both in a “walk” year……if they get butt hurt and underperform they are screwing themselves.
They’re not giving up Tucker or Framber for just a haul of prospects. At minimum, the Astros are going to wanna get a player they could plug right into their everyday lineup or rotation as part of any package.
You have to also consider that whoever makes the deal for them also risks losing them themselves next year. So, the value you get in return may not be as high as it could be if the two had more years of team control. In that regard, getting higher value in return might have to come from a team that had the ability to sign them long-term, and in that case, you’d probably have a limited number of suitors. And from there, the Astros would also have to like the offer.
So, simply just saying, ‘trade them’ gets tricky on multiple levels.
Agree with everything you said.
I think that any team that trades for one of them will have a “deal” in place on an extension.
The trade value will be way higher now than a deadline deal.
And yes, they will get back a player you can plug in, especially if it were Tucker.
Tucker is the guy I would trade….he is gonna want stupid money next year….really doubt we would re-sign him….especially after the Soto deal.
Tucker is getting 10/300 easy.
Tucker to the Phillies in a deal involving Alec Brohm and prospects would be a good start and make sense from both sides.
The Phillies would be able to sign Tucker long-term and Brohm can play either 1B or 3B. The Phillies might even be inclined to give up more in terms of prospects, too, as they have overpaid there before.
But I have heard from multiple reports the Phillies might be willing to deal Brohm for just Ryan Pressly straight up. So, if I were the Astros, I’d make THAT deal instead! haha
I would pay half Pressly’s salary to make that happen….Bohm would be a nice add….
Maybe then put your boy Vincenzo at 1B, pollard!
Yes, please!
Is the Athletic worth it nowadays? Had a sub long ago.
Worth it…great stuff. I like it
Assuming AB does not get signed I’d be okay with those corners.
Number wise Bohm is at least even with AB and I think he is about to take it to another level….plus his defense has gotten better.
And I’d bet a million dollars Dezenzo would put up way better numbers than Singleton ( not sayin much).
I’d love to have the Chronicle thrown on my driveway too (unsure if it’s worth it anymore, I’m old) but reading the horrid cancellation stories on Google I’ll pass.
Bohm’s numbers aren’t flashy (certainly not even with AB), but they’re productive…and I like the flexibility at the corner positions, and there would definitely be a need there if Bregman bolts.
I wanna say he still has a couple years of team control, too, so, it would be a solid fit, and if they got him for Pressly, that would be a shrewd move and a no-brainer. But Bohm and decent prospects for Tucker is something I would entertain as well.
You are correct.
Bohm is not a free agent until 2027.
Hit .280 with an OPS of .779 , also had 15 HR but drove in 97 and had 44 doubles.
I didn’t realize he was an All-Star last year.
Bregman hit .260 with a .769 OPS, with 26 HR and 76 RBI’s and 30 doubles.
Defensively AB is head and shoulders better than Bohm….but he has improved.
