Houston Astros Baseball & MLB Discussions

It appears that Tucker is pretty easily disgruntled anyway.

Dudes a spoiled brat….i think Dana has realized there’s a 99% chance Tucker has no intention of resigning with the Astros.

He floats the trade idea as just a hypothetical….now watch the smoke begin in earnest.

Meh…true, but I tend to look more at where Bregman has normally been at historically. AB had somewhat of a down year by his standards last year…no doubt, the walk-year status probably played a role. But aside from the home runs and overall batting average, most of his other peripherals were far below his career marks. On-base was way down (keyed by less than half the amount of walks he normally gets) as was his OPS and overall run production. The overall WAR also took a bit of a hit, but the 4.1 was still pretty solid.

If Bregs wasn’t a notorious slow starter, there’s no telling where a lot of his numbers would be, actually.

Bohm’s ceiling is nowhere near the .850 OPS or .370 OBP like Bregman. He doesn’t possess Bregman’s power, either. But he’s still solid, drives in runs (and as you say, improving), and nonetheless, a great fit for the team as a solution should Bregman decide to leave.

Thing with Bregs that worries me is that K/BB ratio….a big part of his game has been his incredible eye….

I remember watching him at the Houston Classic when he was playing SS for LSU….

My son was amazed at how fast his hands were which gave him the ability to see the ball longer….

I don’t think we are gonna see AB get back to the numbers you are hoping for….we’ll see I guess.

If he goes to Fenway, we will, I think

I don’t believe this includes the POSTSEASON, either!

What do you know? Weren’t we having this same conversation earlier? From ESPN re: Tucker to the Phillies

Two out of three ain’t bad here. We have already discussed the value of the first one.

But I don’t believe a package of solely minor league prospects gets a deal done for Tucker, at least not prior to next season’s July trade deadline. A Framber trade would also require getting back a starting pitcher to slot into the Astros’ rotation.

The Yankees proposal is laughable….other than Domínguez, forget it….Beeter is 26 years old….nah, I’m good.

as I said, I will defer to YOU on that one

Yankees get Max Fried…shocker

8 years, 218 million

I love it….keep dishing out those long term contracts that are going to age brutally.

Cashman has got to be the worst gm’s baseball has ever seen….basically an unlimited budget and still can’t get it done….

And the Astros have 5,000 sf in the upper west side of that little douche’s head.

Where are the posters that said we would never trade Tucker?

And

I’m down with Luis Gil….we may have to win a lot of games 2-1 but I love pitching duels.

Dezenzo is head and shoulder better than Ben Rice so GTFO with that…

I’m psyched……cashing in on the Prima Donna.

Man, I’m all for monetizing Tucker, but plugging him into Soto’s spot with the Yankees gives me the icks. Of course, I can totally see him withering under NY pressure.

If he goes, we HAVE to get at least one high-level major league bat in return. We’re not winning 2-1 games at a high enough clip to lean on that strategy (almost no team does that anymore). We would need an absolute lead-cinch lockdown closer and set-up guy.

The reported interest in corner infielders is also a pretty strong signal that they don’t expect Bregman to re-sign. Taking both Bregman and Tucker out of a line-up that was already offensively suspect would obviously be bad.

I hope Brown isn’t looking at this as a “restock the farm system” opportunity. :no_mouth:

Hey I’ve been talking about this since the ‘23 WS. Dude has red flags like crazy. Not someone I would want to give a big long term contract to.

Interesting…speaking of ‘making the Yankees pay,’ I’d shoot for the moon and ask for Jasson Dominguez as well. So, Dominguez and Gil (Ben Rice is kinda meh to me, although should be a pretty decent on-base guy, but the power is lacking for a CI).

Gil walks a lot of guys, but if he’s gonna give up little else, I can live with it, I guess. Had a great year last year and was ROY, I think. hahaha

Apparently, Dominguez is the guy Dana Brown is targetting as the ultimate key to the deal.

And I don’t think the fit for the Phillies is weird at all. Tucker for Bohm, Castellanos (with some cash kicked in) and Justin Crawford sounds like a winner to me.

Ben Rice is worthless in a trade to us….better internal guys.

Tucker for Gil and Dominguez….i think Cashman is dumb enough to do that deal.

Phillies have some guys….you would need Bohm to start with.
I want nothing to do with Castellanos.
Crawford for sure.( if he can fix his launch angle he is gonna be a beast)
Crawford and Matthews in the lineup in a couple of years would be something.
Painter is reportedly health after his TJ…
Dana should check and make sure he didn’t have the same Dr. as the Astros….Lol

Yes sir.

You were one of the guys that was on board with trading him….I remember that .

Don’t forget we need a first baseman as well….so a guy like Bohm could play first if Bregs is back.
