They saved like 8.5 mil on Pressly deal iirc. Paid in like 5.5 mil to Cubs.
Yes, i do keep up w it bc Im a numbers guy etc, but haven’t really looked at it in like 3 weeks. Last at looked they were like 3 mil over b4 RP trade. So just guess but thinking like 4-4.5 mil below. Then you have Ben Gamel salary will kick in for like 2 mil if he makes team out of ST, which I thk he will. It was non-guaranteed deal.
Not a Verdugo fan at all , just me. I rather go w what they got n look for available OF at ASB , when JC is more willing to go over LTax. Jmo on that situation.
Not sure if you’re familiar w PERCOTA.
Its system MLB uses to determine wins/losses for year. Another one I saw had very similiar #s .
AL
Yanks - 90- Division winner
Orioles 89 WC
Rangers 89- Division winner
Astros 87 WC
Mariners 86 WC
Twins 86 - Division winner
As you can see they have 3 ALW Teams make playoffs.
Other site has Houston at 89 wins n winning their Division.
We shall see.
I’m interested to see if Taylor Trammell can put it all together, with the opportunity that he has in Houston.

I agree with @Coog51 on Jeremy Peña. If I recall last year he was an error machine and totally inconsistent at the plate.
Can Yordan stay healthy the entire year? He always seems to tweak something or have a family issue that disrupts his rhythm when he gets in a groove.
I’m surprised there is zero buzz about Christian Walker. That should be a significant upgrade at first.
Espada was a bad rookie manager in my opinion. Has he matured to be a better leader in year 2?
Sure we lost two big names but Tucker was injured most of last year and Bregman never really got hot either.
It’s interesting how people talk about Altuve being the one Astros Legend but yet players talk about Bregman being the clubhouse leader last year. Why can’t Altuve step up his leadership skills? Who will fill the void? Walker? That’s why I miss Carlos Correa.
Pena had the same amount of errors as he had in 2022 when he won a gold glove. Other advanced defensive metrics show he’s probably taken a step back since then though.
Offensively he is what he is. He’s consistently been at ~.700 OPS across his 3 seasons. Not much change between the seasons either.
Anyone that expected him to be Correa was putting way too high expectations on him. He’s not that guy and never was. He was amazing in the 2022 playoffs and people thought that was who he would continue to be. He just got hot at a great time.
Ummm no.
Can’t hit the ball….not from MLB pitching.
Everyone better cross their fingers for Melton….and then as Jesse said, wait til deadline.
Our team as constructed is good enough to win the West. We should let this play out and then become buyers at the deadline if the OF is historically bad.
Team, right now, isn’t good enough to make a WS run.
This team seems to enjoy keeping the fans on the edge of our seats. They’re exciting to watch to say the least.
Im counting on you for Melton… no excuses. . You hit on Yanier but that chip is gone. We need it now!!
Ha!
I’m hopeful on Melton but not as much as I am Smith….Melton has all the tools man….just has to cut down on the k’s a little….then again don’t most!
So does Cam Smith start at Sugarland I suppose .
I believe they are starting him in Corpus to get his feet wet in the organization….i don’t expect him to be there long.
My guess is Sugarland by mid-season at the latest….if he is absolutely mashing he will get a taste this year to see if he would be viable for the playoff roster……but I’m getting way ahead of myself….i will get a look at him when CC comes to San Antonio and give you my honest opinion….
Looking for my boy Forrest to be a dominate arm in the pen.
Little birdie told me he was hitting 100+ this summer.
Don’t be surprised if Montero returns……he was throwing seeds after he got sent down last year.
Gotta get him back into the country first.
Oh wait - I just saw a story that he made it into camp this morning, so they got that resolved.
I like the way the Red Sox are starting with this 3B debate.
Ha! That’s me and women! But, now I’m married to Miss Universe & it’s wonderful!
Back to baseball … I’m really pulling for Forest and I hope Pena gets his mojo back.
Congrats on Miss Universe….My wife was in the Miss Texas Pageant years ago so you have me beat there….but mine was a HS and College Cheerleader and was big in gymnastics….so I might have an advantage there if you catch my drift.
Well, she didn’t actually compete … but she’s from the Philippines and is beautiful … even at 50, people think she’s 28.
Not sure where this is coming from but how stupid is Espada and or Dana.
This Altuve to the OF should be shut down….it was only brought up if AB came back….hes gone.
They want production from an OF spot….so let’s move Altuve to the OF and put Dubon or Rogers at 2b?
Sure , let’s rob Peter to pay Paul….asinine.
I think a big driver behind Altuve to LF is bc it allows them to play a much better defender at a more premium position (2nd).
Better to have a bad defender in LF than a bad defender at 2nd
