Not a baseball fan anymore but WAS, Eric Anthony comes to mind.
Forgive me if these slash line stats have already been posted.
This is trouble.
For what it’s worth, his current ST stats have been even better across the board.
He’s gonna be a problem.
I finally was able to watch the video. Tears, man. Just so happy for the young man.
I don’t know why we are surprised. This is Dana’s MO. It’s up to Espada to play the kids now.
The Cubs fans are acting like little titty baby’s now….trying to run him down….there are a few smart ones that think their GM is an idiot and it might wind up being an incredibly bad trade……especially when they don’t get the paper tiger resigned.
RESIGNED in this last post carries multiple meetings. LOL
Cubs need to be RESIGNED to the fact they made a bad deal.
Cubs are gonna have a hell of a time getting Tucker RESIGNED.
Cubs GM Jed Hoyer may have to RESIGN if it blows up in their face.
This is looking like a devastatingly risky, franchise-altering proposition that will set the club back a minimum 10 years if they don’t figure out a way to get Tucker done and NOT wind up with egg on their face!
They may even be RESIGNED to the fact they’ll have to overpay Tucker now to avoid that happening.
Correa and Bregman were pretty anticipated rookie call ups.
Speaking of Bregman….i really liked his game at LSU.
I had my son watch everything Bregman did, including just the way he carried himself….he knew he was the best player on the field and didn’t mind showing it.
Sure hope he’s right
I’ve been fortunate enough to make every Astros Opening Day since the last year in the Astrodome in 1999. Tomorrow is gonna be a good day.
I just wonder how much of an impact that Bregman’s vocal leadership not being there will affect the team. They need Pena and possibly Walker or some key players to step up. Maybe McCullers.
Scratch Lance off the list.
Until he is back playing, and playing well for a bit he does not have the skin to be a leader.
Altuve needs to step up……if he becomes a vocal leader players will listen.
It’s game day fellas……time to show the rest of the league and media the Astros still run this sh-t!
still not right not having opening day on a monday but i begrudgingly allow it as baseball is my favorite sport to watch.
neat to see astros start with a NL foe, they are starting with the teams i grew up watching the astros play before the astros scrapped decades of tradition for some cash and went to the AL.
my tigers taking on former astros hated rival dodgers today.
My three players on the spot for this season and the difference between a 75-80 win team and one that can possibly win the division or a playoff spot:
1.) Spencer Arrighetti – will need to continue to emerge as a legit MLB starter…walks have always been a problem…if he can cut that down (and throw the new 2-seamer over for strikes), I like him…still think he’s a year away, though
2.) Ronel Blanco – will need to show last year wasn’t a fluke…he did kinda come out of nowhere last year. Some of his metrics from 2024 aren’t all that sustainable to me (didn’t have a great camp, either), but another solid year from him, and he could key that portion of the rotation big time.
3.) Zach Dezenzo (or whoever can emerge as a legit missing bat/outfielder in the lineup/field)…he had a great Spring, and pollard swears by him 8 days a week…I like him, too…it should be pretty obvious that he’s the Astros’ best Opening Day option in left field…yet, it’s concerning that they’re still willing to sacrifice what figures to be a huge gaping hole on that side of the field (Altuve), while also creating an additional weak spot in the lineup (Dubon). It doesn’t add up to me right now. Maybe it says they’re still not sold on him or that he’s still not ready. It’s on him to change their minds, so, he’s a key there if he (or anyone else) can emerge.
All relevant takes……even for you Jay
Two guys that May kind of be off the radar but who I consider super important to a successful season.
I want to see Yainer go from really good to perineal all-star….
And JP to come out on fire after that crazy spring he just had……I really feel this is the year he makes people forget about Correa.
Hey, man…ALL my takes are relevant! LOL
I feel pretty good about Yainer and Pena…feel like I kinda already know what we’re gonna get out of them anyway. The other three are MY big unknowns, still…but if they all hit on their realistic best-case scenarios, how I feel overall about this season’s team changes immensely.
It’s obvious to me that they will play the veteran loyalty card, even if the vet is not the best option for that position. It’s great to have loyalty to veterans who have given much to the team as Altuve has, but if that loyalty is hurting the team’s chances of post season play, they should (although probably won’t) make a change.
Are you sure that’s what you want?
I’m hoping for perennial.
Happy opening day
