I actually think Walker’s problem is the opposite. Even with the strikeout problem, he’s still the team RBI leader, so he’s not a total fail.

I also think age plays a bigger factor than motivation. Both Abreu and Walker are aging players.

Well, the Astros don’t invest in young, superstar 1B talent. They invest in old, risky 1B talent.
How wild for Jon to have identical debut games… two bombs in both of his debuts for the stros

The Astros need to wait until it’s a must-win game against a RHP to bring him up.

There’s some good discussion in here about the Astros’ injuries and a possible (likely?) change to at least some elements of the medical staff.

Walker has an OPS above .700 now….not fabulous but not bad….he will end up with 23-25 HR with 85-90 RBI’s.
A couple notches above Abreu.

He definitely isn’t Abreu, but he ain’t 2019 Yuli, either.

I was just about to post that. Shows exactly how much they weren’t interested in bringing RP back.

Kimmel has had more recent success.
He was an All-Star in 2023.
Last year he wasn’t great……walks too many guys but even so he had a good K rate last year……still misses bats….RP spins it up there and puts it on a tee.
From what I’ve read, his velo says he’s washed, which is why he’s in the minors.
Yordan seems to be adjusting to live pitching. Two doubles so far tonight.

Well then that means he fell off a cliff just this year….i don’t buy it.
Last year the velo was down……but he still only gave up 40 hits in 52 IP….to go with 73 k’s.
I don’t care if it’s with velo or deception and junk….he was still missing bats just last year….he even saved 23 games last year….his ERA was 5.33 but his fip suggest he was pretty unlucky….his issue was more to do with walks than anything else.
Personally I’d rather see Blubaugh hitting triple digits for an inning or two at a time….And I guess Ullola won’t be up until September….i thought we were past the “starting his clock early” crap but I guess not.

Sanchez. 4 for 4 tonight. 1 rbi
Walker 2-4. 2 run HR in the first
They obviously read Coogfans.
Stros up 7-2 b7

I obviously haven’t watched him this year because he’s been in the minors. I expect him to give us about as much as Neris, but maybe we’ll get lucky. If his FB is low 90s as reported, then his other stuff better be nasty. Something is definitely off if the Rangers didn’t see fit to bring him up when their bullpen was getting torched.
He couldn’t hit it off a tee for a week and then 5-5 tonight….

Pretty awesome to see Yordan picking up where he left off, even for minor league ball. May he have done all the mexican steroids in his time off, like the 2005 Morgan Ensberg just crushing repeats to the Crawford boxes
Speaking of, Morgan had recent stint in Venezuela
Ensberg was named manager of the Caribes de Anzoátegui prior to the start of the 2024–25 Venezuelan Professional Baseball League season.[24] He lasted one season in the role, and was replaced by Asdrúbal Cabrera for the following season
