Feels good to win!

I see that they’re going to give the McCullers experiment another try tonight - gonna need more runs.

McCullars….like trying to butter burnt toast.

The rotation for the Orioles series:
Alexander (yesterday)
McCullers
Javier
Arrighetti

I’m old enough to remember when you’d think the weak link in that lineup is Alexander. Right now, he’s the stud in that group.

It sounds like JP France is going to work out of the bullpen in Sugar Land to get ready for that role, and Dirty Craig should be in the Astros pen soon. Madness.

I’d bring Yordan up immediately, because that hot streak isn’t gonna last forever - don’t need to be wasting it in Corpus.

Plus Yordan has a shelf life. There’s a paper cut from a pizza box on the horizon. Or a repetitive motion inflammation from changing songs on spotify

One can only hope there’s another blister on th horizon.

The plan was to play him a game….rest a game and then play back to back.

He clearly has his timing down….no reason for him to not be in the Astros lineup today.

FYI-Pedro is hitting the sh-t out of the ball at SL.

With all these pitchers and position players coming back it’s going to be time to trim the fat.

Even with Kimbrel, (fingers crossed the knuckle curve is still nasty) someone is gone….Dubin or Ort? Win win.

Honestly, there isn’t a single bullpen guy I’d really miss other than Abreu. I know we have to keep some of them, so Okert, King and Sousa can stay for now, I guess.

Oh, I see that Sousa just went on the 15 day with “elbow inflammation.”

Sousa to the IL….Van Wey sent back to SL to make room for Kimbrel and LMJ.

Can’t believe we could not get rid of Dubin or ORT……ugh

And Okert has more than earned his money.

IMO he is the most valuable lefty we have outside of Hader.

Outside of two really bad outings he has been lights out….hope we re-sign him in the offseason.

Not saying he’s bad, but none of these guys are good enough that I have high confidence when they come in. The three I listed are good enough that I’m not overcome with dread when they get the call, at least. :slightly_smiling_face:

And now Brandon Walter is likely done for the year.

It’s just insane to me that our injury bug is so bad that even the backups’ replacements are taking fire. 31 different guys have thrown pitches for the Astros this year, and more are on the way.

By comparison, 27 different guys have played in the field, and they have had a ton of attrition.

Nuts.

I feel the same about King and Sousa….but have to disagree on Okert.

He has outplayed his contract 10 fold….he has two bad appearances the entire season.

Again, I’m not debating whether he was a good signing. He just gives me the vibe that it’s all going to fall apart at some point. His walk and strikeout rates are both huge outliers over his career numbers.

Maybe he’s one of those dudes that just figured it out kind of late - hope so.

LMJ with 70 pitches for 9 outs.

Agreed on the walk rate but his k rate has been this good or close 3-4 different seasons.

He’s as efficient as a 1981 Blazer with 33 inch tires driving uphill into a strong wind.

It’s pretty ridiculous.

Guaranteed JP :fr: would give us better outings….he burns the entire BP almost every time he takes the mound.

And still another year of him.

With this bullpen, if a guy gives you a scoreless inning, you make an offering to Jobu and move on to the next one.

DO NOT TRY TO GET ANOTHER INNING.
