Viva Garcia early on.
That 2nd HR was a Tommy Knocker.

This ump ?
All these low strikes and its just the 3d.

Forgot how slow it moves w Kikuchi.
Did Stros try 2 resign him ?
Wasted $ on Lance Mc probably priced them out.

Without that extra juice on his FB, Garcia can’t afford to make mistakes on location, though.

Man, a Padres-Cubs series would be pretty fun!

Garcia pitches 3up, 3 down in 5th inning.

Total pitches: 69

Finishes 6th inning. 79 total pitches.

Quality start.

Well done Luis.

Exactly.

We’ll see how much more his arm strength builds up before the playoffs……would be a beast if he could get back to his old self by playoffs.

Could be a good thing for next year though….having to think his way through lineups and not just being able to rear back and blow someone away….he and Christian should be really good next year.

BTW, did anyone see JV was up to 98 in his last start? Crazy at what 43?

JV is living the “not as good as he once was, but as good once as he ever was” life.

He really wants to get to 300 wins, but I’m not seeing it.

And don’t look now, but the Rangers are making a move on Seattle.

Pretty easy to see which series would get the prime time slots and which would get the 1 pm slots

Always a wild series v Yanks.
Up a notch tonight.
They need a series vs a good team

  • Against teams .500 or better = 37-37 record.
  • Against sub-.500 teams = 39-23 record.
  • Vs five other American League teams in playoff position is 12–20.

Valdez/ Alexander/ Javier.
v
Fried/ Warren/ Rodon

121 pitches in 5 yesterday.
Needs 35 more.
A few seasons of going 10-15 for A’s, White Sox, etc ?

The problem is that he needs to be on a decent team to get those wins, because he’s not going to be throwing CG shutouts. His age will make playoff teams hesitant to rely on him as part of the rotation.

Pitching 3 more full seasons as a starter will be a tall order, but he’s a motivated guy.

So Yordan’s maximum workload is 4 games before he needs a day off?

Sigh.

I was just coming here to say the same thing. Espada is putting 8 right handed hitters in the lineup and the lone leftie is not named Yodan Alvarez, This is in spite of Fried giving up more home runs to lefties with about 300 fewer at bats than righties.

Yes complete garbage….second off day for “load management”in a little over a week?

Common man….let him DH.

And since the boys rocked Fried last time I’m guessing he’ll throw a nono with 10 k’s?

Right….apparently Sanchez is a platoon player because I don’t think he’s ever played against a lefty for us….more ridiculousness!

It all just reinforces that Espada and crew have no sense of urgency or killer instinct. When they gain a game on Seattle, they tend to treat the next game like a throw-away.

Maybe there’s a prescribed rest regimen for Yordan like a return-to-throwing program, but I kind of doubt it.

Do guys know what “discomfort” is like. It’s uncomfortable. It takes months to get over discomfort. Sometimes years. And the stigma…fugitabowdit

I wonder if Crane has discomfort writing monthly checks to these player impersonators.

Fried looking like wild thing in the bottom of the 3rd to start…
