Bring back Luhnow.
We have 8 blown saves so far….not all have been Hader.
Flip that around and we are 20-14 and first place.
For all the complaints about different guys in the lineup the poor record’s biggest impact has been the bullpen….then a few others where the starters gave us no chance of winning.
I think 23-11 would be a safe estimate with better all around pitching.
I agree.
In general our free agent signings have been abysmal over the last three years.
I guess the issue is that they brought up Loperfido to take over 1B, but lo and behold, Singleton starts hitting at the same time. Perhaps they could move Singleton to DH and Loperfido to 1B and Yordan to LF. Do we think Yordan is an everyday LF? Personally, I would leave Loperfido at 1B until he proves he can’t handle it/hit and hopefully he excels. Give him and Yordan occasional rests. Do we have anyone who can play 3B and hit? I think it would help everyone if Bregman could play 2 and sit 2 until he works out his hitting. Can Dubon play 3B? Is his arm strong enough?
Names to watch out 4.
Bregs w a few more walks and finally a big HR but still horrible.
2020 was his bad season.
Getting closer 2 its 42 game sample size.
I think it’s better to see if Singleton can keep it together at 1B and leave Loperfido in the outfield where he’s an actual asset instead of throwing him in a new position at the same time as he’s trying to adjust at the plate. He’s going to have to be in a rotation while he gets acclimated, anyway. Put Caratini at 1B if Singleton isn’t getting it done or there’s a bad lefty matchup - he’s played a fair number of games at that spot.
Yordan may think he’s an everyday LF, but I don’t think the Astros want that.
Bregman needs a few days off. I don’t know how Dubon does over there, but he has the arm for it.
Just FYI- Loperfido was a full time first baseman in college……The Astros put him in the OF and occasionally 2B.
Did not know that. It kind of wastes his athleticism to stick him at 1B, imo - looks like an OF.
Far too much.
A few sports outlets are speculating on a proposed trade that would send Joey Loperfido and Kenedy Corona to Toronto for Vladimir Guerrero, Jr.
What?
It was a hypothetical….Toronto would never do that….like ever.
I’m so tired of that pig Bregman. 200 basis points below Myers in OPS. They missed their window unloading him on the Rockies or the Mets. Now he’s going to ride the franchise down like a dime store pony.
Yanks are good but this caliber of butt shining to start 16 straight game days ?
A tough roadie @ NYY & Detroit is not ideal.
Where was Dallas Kuechel, the prime time Yankee killer, when we needed him?
Blow this pig circus up. It’s not gonna happen this year. This team has no smoke. I could argue the injuries but it’s the guys that aren’t injured that are fueling this dumpster fire. The only off-limits would be Altuve, Diaz, and Dubon. This team is old. Not just physically but psychologically. Keep Brown in there for expectations. Maybe Abreu and Christian. Brown needs to be picking out his targets and be ready later when all the desperate wanna-be’s make their stab at the playoffs. Verlander has to be thinking wtf did I get myself into? For one fleeting moment two years ago I thought we could build a franchise around Peña, Alvarez, Tucker, and two or three pitchers. Not anymore. I’m not paying Fubo anymore to watch this Fubar. I’ll root for them on gametracker and read what happened on here.
Yeah he hasn’t done much since that 2019 season. Espada needs to move him down the lineup.
He was pretty good in the 2nd half of the year in 2022 and in the playoffs but he’s definitely peaked. Expected more from him in a contract year.
Bregman just can’t seem to put a barrel on the ball.
And he should be in his prime……not showing age regression……and now he is pressing badly, thinking about all the millions he is losing with every AB.
I was very excited when Joe got the job……he can’t help a lot of what has happened this year……
But these lineups are worse than Dusty.
Bregman in the four hole is a damn travesty….i don’t care about the back of a baseball card.
And if you are gonna bring Loperfido up then play him EVERY damn day….give him a shot to get in a rhythm so he can get going….playing him sporadically is BS.
A young guy needs to be able to find his footing, not be played like a ten year veteran off the bench.
When Joey is hitting.190 with zero HR’s they will say he wasn’t ready….book it.
