I’m trying to temper my expectations for Hader. Until he gets his velo back, he’s not going to be the same dude we’re used to watching. He’ll still get guys out with the slider, but he needs that fastball.
Hopefully he has more in the tank and hasn’t really been pushing the envelope yet.

Why would Abreu be losing velocity at his age?
Lingering arm issues? Mechanics? Back problems?

The 7+ ERA came from 4 appearances at SL.
He had 5 appearances at Corpus with a 1.80 ERA.
But point still taken.

Honestly mechanics should have been lined out long before now if that’s all it was.
I initially thought he had to be hurt but GM says he’s not.
He does have a lot of wear and tear on that arm….lots of innings and back to back appearances over the last several years.
But he’s not just lost velo, he’s lost his ability to locate….makes it even worse.

I think there’s a mechanics issue to go along with some level of “dead arm” - like he has a physical issue that hasn’t risen to the level of being hurt.
He’s trying to compensate by overthrowing, and that’s making it worse.
It’s hard to believe he’d be cooked at age 29, but it’s certainly possible.

Yeah, Burrows has turned into batting practice. I mean the guy looks like he’s a thousand miles away out there.
I dislike this stale, barely-get-by organization that Dana is constructing. It just screams “maybe someday” or, “if we can get lucky.”
