I’m a little suspect on this one….big boy drafted on projection….these guys are more of a 3rd round on type pick.
I know they are in love with his stride….he reaches out so far that the fastball plays up.

Your overall assessment of Logan Hughes is encouraging. Heaven knows the Astros need a good hitting OF. Hope he is able to make the majors sooner rather than later.
When Alvarez is at the plate, he makes hitting major league pitching look easy. I can only image how his career stats would have looked if he had remained injury free.

I don’t know about that. I think we DFA’d him before trading him for cash. If that’s all he’s worth, I don’t think he’s starter material. But I’m not a scout or a talent expert. JMO

He’s 28 year old that’s a sub replacement level player in the majors and has a sub .700 ops at AAA level.
I wouldn’t bank on him being much besides a utility IF that doesn’t hit much.

Point taken about Yordan, but in return , they at least need a young SP of the caliber of Paul Skenes in return to build this once great pitching staff back up. It’s Hunter Brown and everyone else at this point and they’d be pummeled in a pLaYoFf series at this point. Thing about Skenes, he’s about to get paid on the level of Yordan come his next contract, but Yordan doesn’t pitch.
Cam Smith may only be hitting .220, but he has plenty of upside. With more experience and exposure in MLB, hopefully it will payoff big for the Astros in the future.
His defense is worth his .220 average tradeoff, he brings the pop of the occasional monster deep ball like he showed in the 8th. But with these noodle arms in CF and LF they’ve run out there this year, they need to bring a little more production.
He’s also only 23.
