I would never give up a player like Yordan for a pitcher. Ever. That’s a guaranteed disappointment borne out of injuries and surgeries.
Two of the Astros greatest hitters came in via trades for relief pitchers. That’s not a lesson to ignore.

Kind of my point: I don’t want to give him up at all. Yordan has had his share of injuries too. The Funkmaster mentioned giving him up, and that was my trade proposition; putting my Dana Dunce hat on, I would take Skenes.
I see Crochet is out with an injury. Astros pitchers on the IL in the last 2 years are mind-numbing.
I guess if someone wanted to trade their entire Triple-A roster for him. I’d prefer to keep him but with Dana you never know.
How are the Astros going to build this pitching staff, as is? Who is on the trading block to get quality pitching? It’s not at Triple-A. Spaghetti looks cooked. Can Hunter make it through this season?

If Yordan is traded it will be for a BOATLOAD of top prospects….some closer to bigs and others in low to mid levels.
He has rebuilt his value to an All-Time high….knowing Crane he will not let Dana trade him….he’ll try and lowball him on another extension.

These are the guys to ship out for as much value as possible.
I’d also trade King, Okert, Abreu, etc….get what you can and let the kids come up to the pen for the rest of the season….might find your future closer.

Just like before the season started, Yordan would always command lots of good young prospects but I don’t think Crane will trade him. He sells tickets. But even with prospects, there is no guarantee that any of them pan out.
I’m not saying you have to trade Yordan this season….but if he isn’t getting extended then trade him in the winter.

So by that rationale we should never trade anyone that is good….just let them age out of their contract and get one comp pick….gotcha.
And no, his value pre season was not what it is now….to suggest that is just naive.

It doesn’t mean “don’t trade for prospects”. Just that they could all turn into just average players…since @FunkMasterMilluns is so adamant about a full on rebuild, it wouldn’t necessarily guarantee them back to the championship level that they were at…and yes, his value was always high, even before the season. It’s gone up but he would have always been an expensive trade.
Neyens and Huezo promoted to High A Asheville.
Pretty aggressive for Neyens at still just 19 years old.
But they are making room for some of the college bats incoming.
Had a former player drafted by the Astros….another who was a top 100 guy went undrafted….spoke to his dad, once he was not selected by round four they relayed message to not draft him, going to college.

A year, or two, in college getting a little scratch & bolstering your draft prospects while hanging out with some co-eds doesn’t sound too bad…

Since they are paying down a good chunk of salary and throwing Gordon in ( who has been pitching well at SL lately) they may get a decent lotto pick.
OMG!!! There is no way you retire his number before you retire JR’s number. Frankly, there is no way you retire his number…ever.
People are clinging to that one game against the Yankees and making him out to be the best pitcher in baseball history. These people just need to stop.
