I think, but not sure, that their staff is also riddled with injuries.
They all throw heat, so maybe they want a veteran junk-baller to mix in. They probably don’t have much playoff experience on that staff either.

I just can’t imagine him adding much. Maybe like another coach but he’s a pretty awful pitcher at this point.
He’s not even replacement level player good.

Maybe they really wanted to add Gordon and McCullers was the price they had to pay.

Just came to post that. We’ve got 6 Non-HOF players with numbers retired. Wilson and Umbricht passed away while playing for the organization so I see those two different than the others.

They changed the guidelines at some point. I think it’s true going forward.
Wynn was the last non-HOF to have his number retired and that was 2005. The change had to be made. Looks like we’re 10th in MLB for number of retired numbers and we don’t have near the history of the teams ahead of us.

So, I’d like to get a pulse of those on the baseball board. What does everything think we’ll see the last 2 1/2 months of the season? More of the same? Better? Worse?
I think the ‘Stros will hang around for a bit, but ultimately I believe the Mariners will find their way and take the division, with the ‘Stros finishing 7-10 games behind.

I think Yordan in the home run derby would be quite a feat. Maybe next season he will finally give it a try.

I don’t know if they finish that far out because the division sucks so bad….but I don’t believe they do anything other than tread water….
Which is why myself and a few others are such proponents of selling….the sellers market is going to be nuts.
This whole trade for a pitcher and a LHB are just silly to me….the team is way to flawed for a couple of adds to make much difference.
The top bats and SP’s are going to cost WAY more than the Astros have to pay….so in reality what does adding a 4th/5th type rotation guy and a middling LHB do?
When you have an opportunity to improve your future SIGNIFICANTLY you do it.
IMO that far outweighs a 40-50% chance of an opening two game series loss in all likelihood.

I say stay put and see what the reserves of Blanco and Wesneski bring to the rotation.
If it works out, great. If not, you can still move Pena and Parades for a song during the offseason.
My concern with selling now (albeit at an overvalued price tag) is you’re most likely dumping DB and Espada at the end of the season and bringing in a new GM who didn’t get to transact the first part of the rebuild efforts. If that is the case, then we may be having the same conversation we’re having now about DB hiring into a no-win situation.
I know some of you are really hard on Brown but if you really analyze the moves he’s made, it’s a mixed bag. Imai is the one where I’d say maybe 2 out of the 30 GMs would have had the smarts to perform a psych evaluation on the guy before signing him.
Don’t do anything and see what happens. Fire the lot and let the new GM paint his Picasso from scratch.
