Houston Astros Baseball & MLB Discussions

In the Astros 9-1 win over St. Louis, Blanco closed out the game with 4 innings pitched, 2 hits, 0 runs, 5 Ks. He may not be a SP, but it’s possible he might be an effective RP.

And Montero has had a couple of outings where he didn’t go full gas can. Things are looking up.

Can’t wait until opening day! I will be there in one of the outfield party decks.

I saw that that Astros lost to the Space Cowboys last night. That can’t be good.

You’re joking correct?

He & I don’t see eye to eye. But I needed someone to ask him this. Hopefully it was sacarsm. Ooof.

DBacks signed Montgomery to a one year deal for 25 mil.

I didn’t watch the game but isn’t this about the time where they actually try? I feel like this first month might be slow out of the gate for them.

#OutOfTouch. :man_shrugging:

I think in these games they just go through the motions to be honest.
They are ready to get the season started and tired of playing games that don’t count.
But I’m not going to dismiss 4 solid innings by Kouba who mixed it up pretty well.
I like Kouba but I don’t know if his stuff plays up to MLB on a regular basis. He is a guy that has to be close to perfect or get hammered. He reminds me a lot of Kirk Saarloos.
Dang, sat about that trip off the rails.

Point is, I don’t think you can read anything into these games.

A few of these guys might want to find a new agent….the big man misread the market big time.

Fewer Boras clients would be good for baseball. Still, this is mostly on the players. Altuve is a prime example of a player dictating the outcome instead of letting the agent have control.

According to ESPN the “best catcher in the sport” is
Adley Rutschman.

.277 , 20, 80, .809 in 588 AB’s

But I hear there is some Latino kid down South

.283, 23, 60, .846 in only 355 AB’s

….

I’m excited to see him play this year, even though I expect some regression as teams make adjustments and he deals with the fatigue of playing every day.

Just stay healthy, kid.

I can’t wait to see this lineup with Yainer in it…we should be able to bash with anyone.
