It is horrendous.
Why waste your time watching that crap lol
I saw it was 25-4 while watching a mens game and just shook my head. Have we had a good womens team since the Joe Curl years?
The year right after Mighty Joe Curl left, Todd Buchanan hired from HBU I believe won the C-USA regular season title with a 16-0 record and a overall record of 26-6 but the Coogs got bounced out in the first round of the NCAA. That was 2010-11 and that was the last year the team made the NCAAâs. He won that year with Curlâs recruits and the best players must have been all seniors because Buchanan crashed the next year at 3-26.
Could we get Karen Aston from UTSA?
She was the UT-Austin coach for quite a while with a 69% WP before being let go and taking over at UTSA.
UTSA Record:
2021-22 7-23 (3-11)
2022-23 13-19 (9-11)
2023-24 18-15 (10-8)
2024-25 20-3 (11-1)
In 2021, it was stated that âAston is set for the long term at UTSA as her contract runs for six years with an annual base salary of $250,000 with the addition of a supplemental payment of $100,000 per year based on media and public appearances.â She made $775K at UT-Austin. Maybe she wanted to stay in the CenTex area.
That was when they shouldâve hired Cynthia Cooper instead at the time - that decision backfired tremendously and looks like we never recovered
Or hire the tsu coach whoâs undefeated in league play - sheâs coached at A&M, Miami and Marquette so you canât say she hasnât been anywhere else and you can pay her less and invest in NIL
TSU is great in conference at 11-0 but theyâre 1-10 OOC with the one win coming over the college of biblical studies. TSU needs to win something outside of conference.
TSU lost to Tarleton who pays its coach $102K per year. Tarleton is 16-9 (7-3) and it lost to UTA which is 14-7 (9-1). At least UTA beat UH but it was in Arlington.
We would have to pay $400K or so to get Aston.
Every coach has learned how to adjust and use the portal and navigate NIL - she looks to but she has high major experience also - renu has said weâre taking loans out now so you gotta cut somewhere in the interim
An Aston type will command more as theyâll still reference UT in the back of their minds - may need to stay away from that
Not saying hire tsu but thatâs what our mindset need to be at this point - this area has never been a WBB hotbed in terms of popularity so you better find someone who knows how to recruit nationally at a high level
Iâd be ok shutting down wbb and doing gymnastics. Weâve won the conference championship two times in fifty years.
Exactly. Our administration is putting most of their effort where money comes in . Football & Basketball should always be top tier. Everything else unfortunately takes a back seat. Thatâs the way it is at UH and a lot of universities.
Just make sure those top two sports bringing in the dough better stay competitive or else hell will break loose.
Good correction.
Also TCU forfeited several games due to not having enough players. I believe they could play 5 but did not have enough for proper practices was the story so they chose to forfeit. A different choice than UH it seems. Then held open tryouts and were able to field a team the rest of the season. One of those walk-ons recently was converted to full scholarship for this year.
Coach Hughey needs to go after season is over.
Or before lol
The team is poorly managed and will never be supported on this campus with these results. And we need a program with at least a puncherâs chance at getting people to come in the gym. A major college that canât get 100 people is doing something wrong.
TCU could help our cause with a win over Tech tonight.
Mississippi St whipped Agy tonight.
Go Coogs beat ASU!
Love the enthusiasm but wrong thread Mr. Butch.
I had season tickets for Chandi Jonesâ career. We were drawing 2k on good nights in CUSA.
Our administration has done us dirty allowing this.
Sunday afternoon games donât work for WBB - you will not defeat church in this city regardless of how good you are
We have Saturdayâs game vs. Arizona at 7 p.m. in Fertitta.
The next weekend, March 2, is UCF (battle for the bottom!) at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Lost a very close home game to AZ. Now weâre two back in last place with two games to go. Itâs the opposite of the menâs team.
