How much value do you put on the Big12 Tournament

So we came in second with Zona as clear season winners. Some you don’t see this team makibg much of a run in the big dance.
Would winng the Big12 tournament change your perception of this year’s team?

Fun to win, not as important as regular season.

Having momentum going into the NCAA tournament will help this team.

Especially with their swagger

The 3 game losing streak. Weakened some of our confidence

So, getting to the Big12 title game, will help this team believe its a National Title contender.

Its a young team, so winning breeds confidence

Good for the freshman to be in a elimination tourney. Lose and go home.

If we beat Arizona, Iowa State, or Kansas then it helps gets revenge especially with Kansas and Iowa State having a home crowd in KC.

These freshmen need as many reps as possible. And Sampson needs to continue to to tinker with this team. I think we’re getting somewhere at the right time. I love seeing Mercy and McCarty now being the first two off the bench.

We should at least try to go to the finals and see where we are. I am sure Flemmings would like to have at least one championship if he can. He seems like one who really cares to be a champion.

I would say playing as many games as possible in the B12 Tournament helps with player confidence, playing before the bright lights, gives the bench players extra motivation, because they will be seeing playing time, and prepares the team for managing their energy in B2B games.

Let’s get this party started.

This is not the time to tinker with the lineup.

If we were up big today and showed up in the 1st half, then we could have played the bench guys more in the 2nd half.

for the coogs little, even if they lose the first game; wont mean much for their overall.

only if one of the low seeds goes all the way thru or makes the title game, does it mean anything as it might move a bubble team off the bubble.

he probably means more time in our adjusted lineup bc since the arizona game harwell and walker have played maybe 12 minutes a piece lol

It appears we peaked against BYU and have been going downhill since. There is a good chance we will not win a game in the B12 tourney but we should win 1 in the NCAA.

I’ll take that bet, I guarantee a Big12 tournament win

Actually our two biggest bench guys, Mercy and McCarty got 18 and 20 minutes of playing time in a close game and that is terrific news.
Sakho would have played more but had four fouls in six minutes.
Coach Sampson normally shortens his bench to 3 come tournament time.

For a moment there, it read like something I would have written, but you did it better. :sunglasses:

He’s obviously been tinkering with the lineup. He is a constant tinkerer!

It means something for the teams trying to wi it to get an auto bid to ncaa tournament, for us it means nothing except pride

Guess we’ll find out how much pride coach and the team have

IMHO, it is not as valuable as the regular season title. It basically is a money grab for the conference. Typically has little impact on NCAA tourney.

For the better teams, playing 3 games in 3 days can be risky when it comes to injuries.

Especially right before the REAL tourney.
