That’s not even debatable IMO. Every reasonable human being should agree it’s not as important.
But if they play the thing and you’re there, might as well win the **** thing.

Cincinnati is our possible first game? They have improved and can play better than the last time we played them. Ask Kansas.
If we don’t wake up on offense, Cincinnati is going to be trouble.
If we win the tournament, I believe we’ll be a final 4 team again.
If you lose the tournament badly, then I’ll view us as a sweet 16 team.
With a young team, it’s hard to gauge how good we are and the tournament helps identify that.
I’m generally not very exciting about conference tournaments, but this year it’s good for the Cougars to play some more basketball to get more experience for the newer players. Plus, I’m still hoping we can get to 30 wins!
I get what you’re saying… but it’s TECHNICALLY more important than the regular season championship… TECHNICALLY…
It all depends on how we start games. If we play a good team, we will have a hard time starting in a hole like we have in several of the last 6 games.
If we win, it is very meaningful. If we do not it is no big deal.
Tinker and adjust. OSU plays small and fast. Adjusted to match them yesterday.
More seriously, if we can win this it makes up (somewhat) for not winning the regular season title the 3rd year in a row. I do not know how the seeding sets up, but getting a win over Iowa State, and/or Arizona would be nice since we only had one shot against both and lost them both. Plus, winning would give us nice momentum into the NCAA tournament.
I wanna play Kansas in that second game… We dont lose to anyone 2 times in a row.
Not much value the NCAA bracket seedings are pretty much set by the time the tournament comes around. History has shown us it doesn’t play a big factor in seeding, except for a few upsets etc. us winning the tournament won’t change our seeding i think we are locked in as a two seed
Depends on Florida losing
Besides Alabama
Normally the conference tourney is meaningless for the Coogs, but because we had three losses in a row late and made some changes, those still need to be worked on and tested in good competition. These gams are last chances to make those improvements before the real tourney.
This is like cramming for a test, it would have been better to have worked it all out sooner, but you realised you missed a few chapters and concepts and are rushing to understand them at the last second, but it’s better than not knowing them at all.
I think we’re locked into that 2 seed unless we lose to KSU or WV on Thursday but it sure would be good for the nerves to see us not have another clunker against Kansas or Arizona.
Yeah if you’re judging by the Headquarters’ propaganda, you are TECHNICALLY correct, Kyle.
They used to call it Big 12 Tournament Champions when you won. About 10-15 years ago they switched it to officially being also called Big 12 Champions when you win the tournament, just in a separate and parallel but “no less important” sense.
This is simply because of the moneygrab aspect of it, ratings for the tournament are typically higher than all but our TOP conference reg season games. So it’s an inventory selling point to act like winning the thing makes you equal parts Big 12 Champion.
But no informed bball fan feels that way, nor should they. But I’ll rock an ill-earned Big 12 Champions shirt just the same. Closest ill ever get lmao
ISU is 6-0 in Big 12 Tournament Championship games.
The ‘value’ for the top teams for conference tournaments is questionable, aside from lowering a team’s seed in ‘the dance’ by being upset. For the lower teams it is a chance to play into "The Dance’. For UH, it is a chance to play in ‘high pressure’ games.
Coogfans seem set on downplaying this but personally i like the idea of winning a tournament to set up playing in the big tournament. We’re a young team, i think its more important this year
Its a helluva lot more important that just having fun. Trophies mean things. Having them sitting proudly in your trophy case forever is a big deal.
When I go to the carnival I don’t settle for one teddy bear. I want all those m#%#ers.
