I would like to see home start against Navy and see how he does vs. better competition. Tonight he had 0 interceptions in over 3 quarters. Tune played less than a quarter and threw a pick. If Ike can not turn the ball over he gives us a better chance of winning than Tune. Ike was hitting receivers in stride. Something I’ve never seen Tune do. More reps with the first team in practice and he will hopefully get even better.
I concur! Ike’s the Man!
I certainly like Ike’s story.
I liked that he spread the ball around. It just wasn’t the Tank Dell show.
I missed first 15 minutes, parking. Didn’t realize Tune threw a pick. Ike wasn’t specular but after initial jitters, I think he did well. Most of all he protected the ball.
I like Ike, I’ll sing it into a mike…
I certainly think that Ike has won a chance to be successful. He played a good game today. His throws are accurate and he thinks fast on his feet. Go Coogs!
Here. Here. Understand no one has handed him the Davey O’Brien Award, but he has earned the right to be given a chance … and no one is saying we’ll give him 3 seasons.
I would like to see the other QBs get reps in a game.
What for?
Ike needs all the reps he can get. Only reason to play other qbs is if we are up by 30+ in the 4th quarter with 5 mins left
We can’t just rotate QBs and tank the season
I am trying to be delicate as possible- Maybe the QB who doesn’t give the ball to the other team should play?
That was Ike’s first action. You’d be a little rusty too.
But he might just start tightening up the long passes. He had good bounce in his step back there.
Unless I missed it, Ike threw 0 interceptions. Did you see him throw an interception?
EXACTLY! I said it a long time ago on this very board that if Tune threw a pick against Texas Tech I would have pulled him and played the other QBs the rest of the TT game. The thought being if Tune keeps throwing to the other guys we probably weren’t going to beat TT anyhow. ( And btw, that is exactly what happened.) I would have played the other kids against Rice and Grambling too just to get them out there to see what they could do and Tune could watch what’s going on. Honestly, I think Tune IS the starter, (He has the physical tools) but there something going on with what he’s seeing out there. Hell, I might have even stuck him in the coaches box with the coaches.
How did the commercial go “bring out the banners, beat on the drum, I like Ike, you like Ike, everybody likes Ike”.
Watching the Press Conference its hard not to pull for the guy. One offer coming out of HS and it gets pulled. He then sends his tape to everyone and Applewhite’s staff is the only D1 he hears backs from. As he said many times “i bet on myself”. Didn’t want to go the Juco route and thought getting his degree at UH while having a chance was his best option. Can we give this non scholarship player some NIL money
I’m looking at it like this. If Tune continues to start, we will have a new head coach next season. With Ike, we have a chance to be something more than we’ve been the past two seasons.
Dana has been a disaster so I fully expect him to roll with Tune.
I heard that he’s also got some real brains academically, a smart kid.
What I would like to see against Navy:
Start Ike
More q-back designed runs
More passes to the tight end
First I want to see us stuff the option !!
Start Ike going forward. Let the other QB rest his hamstring. Hamstrings needs plenty of rest. Dana can bring him in when Ike struggles. Hopefully, the other QB can rest his hamstring for a loooooong time.
