Good stuff. Thanks…
Packing TDECU would be PARAMOUNT to even considering a larger, more fan friendly venue.
For that matter. Solving….
Parking
Heat
Ridiculous Concession Prices
…and…
Game Day Atmosphere
…would be good places to start.

I agree we have the stadium and need to find a way to live with what we have now. I and others thought building it on the intramural field would have been free advertising and possibly help develope that area commercially.
That’s my point…we are afraid to even allow 25% to revolve around UH…like we are scared.
They (UT) market and celebrate their product…we hide our Season Opener on a Thursday night afraid that all 250,000 of our Houston area alums are leaving Houston in a Hurricane evacuation type of exodus.
Houston should go all out to bring in a once in a generation type player, with national buzz that curious Houstonians would flock to the stadium to see in person. May be easier said than done, but it’s worth a try.
TTU is on to something, I believe.
Need to spend resources, within the rules, on players…which in turn gives a better chance of putting together winning seasons competing for championships.
But even with winning, the crowds will not immediately come. There is a delay of anything from a few games to a full season, maybe more.
Improving the game day experience with some of the good ideas mentioned upthread would be the cherry on top.
Gotta give Ohio State v Michigan the edge for biggest rivalry.
So the loud away crowds helped us win then as well? Obviously that makes no sense…
Sure it doesn’t hurt to get some home crowd momentum but what is that worth MAYBE 3 points on the field? We lost by 10+ twice at home. Maybe the coaches and players didn’t get it done on the field just maybe and it just happened to be at home this year.
TT is really really talented so we likely get whipped on the road too. We had 4 TO vs WVU. Kicker missed 2 late FG vs TCU. None of this has anything to do with the fans.
I still think he had plans…
If Bama had also been knocked out if the CFP it wouldn’t have been nearly as energetic…
By the time we played WVU most fans assumed we were knocked out of the CFP after the Texh loss so a lot quit coming…
This has been a matter of debate for a long time.
No one will ever agree on it.
We could both make the case.
Some say it’s Army / Navy.
It really depends on what one considers the factors to be that make a great rivalry.
I put OSU / Mich at #2…
The slow starts could be related to attendance. We had slow starts against W. Virginia and TCU.
When we’ve had top 10 opponents in TDECU it has been…
The Tech game was a sample as well…
The Army Navy game that I went to in person back in 2010 absolutely bored me to death, so I won’t rank that as highly.
I had more fun watching the Sectetaries’ Cup (Coast Guard v. Merchant Marine) this year than I have watching most Army Navy games.
I’d say that the ND v USC is either the 2nd or 3rd biggest rivalry in college football simply because it is the only major “intersectional” rivalry of any real consequence.
If true, then that’s on the players and/or coaches. They also had “slow starts” against Oregon State, Oklahoma State, and UCF. The common denominator there is not the UH fanbase.
I don’t really care about attendance, specially with a team that hasn’t been very consistent for many years now. I don’t really care about attendance because I just go to the stadium to watch my Cougars and have fun. I just don’t care if there are 10 fans or 50.000 fans, and I don’t care if they win or they lose because I know that they give everything on every play. Attendance is not mine, the administrators, the coaches or the players’ problem because they don’t have control where people spend their time and money. I know that the university has created the environment for people to go to the games, but that problem is out their control. I think that you and me should be talking about the great season that the Cougars had, but instead we are talking about attendance, so if you want to make it better continue supporting our team, take your whole family and invite your friends to the games, and if all of us do what I just said then I can tell you that the attendance problem will resolved.
He’s not Vince Young or TJ Ford in terms of high school excitement - since all the talent has basically moved to the boondocks those days are over where you get a player who can grab the city’s attention before a ball is even thrown
He’ll have to win you over at UH
Disagree…
I don’t think there’s another player in the country, right now, that people will be more excited about seeing step onto the field, than Keisean Henderson.
They may have to wait. Which will make the excitement build even more.
He’s literally the #1 recruit in the nation as a QB, if that doesn’t grab people’s attention then they’re a lost cause.
Yep
I would say… “It’s a good problem to have” but it’s not even a “problem” except for some on this message board, who are dying for a Quarterback Controversy that doesn’t even exist.
