I’m going to be that guy

One thing about the attendance issue that wears me out is how much energy those least responsible have to spend on it. I know we all care but sending us texts and emails and telling us to buy more tickets is never going to fix it. It’s like they’re covering their margin by shaking down the stakeholders. Quit trying to sell us the car. We already bought it.

Wasn’t comparing.

Just citing it as a reference. Something to aspire / compare to.

No matter how difficult, whatever the difference is, the Athletic Director should be making a list…

Then, go out with a plan to do those things they are doing.

Yes, even “if” it means a new stadium in a new location…

Never say never….

Until then, do all the other stuff they’re doing…

Building a new stadium somewhere else to try to draw more fans would be the all-time dumbest thing our AD could even consider, and there have been some doozies.

Fixed it for you…

…and, it can be compared. In fact, I did compare it. But not for the reason you assume…

Why?

It wouldn’t just be “draw more fans”, although that would be great.

It would be to make UH a premier college football program. Or perhaps that’s not what anyone (you) want(s)…

You can’t fault someone who’s looking for solutions.

Well, you can, but what’s the point?

I would rather come up with 10 ideas and only one of them be “good” than be someone who stops thinking about ways to improve.

I’m pretty sure, between the several threads on this topic, there are some GREAT ideas.

The Athletic department would be negligent if they weren’t reading these forums, full of passionate, caring fans, and brainstorming like we are…

The $50 parking is enough to piss anyone off, especially the casual fan. Is it still $50 like I saw some people posting earlier? If so, that’s absurd

Every problem has a solution, or it wouldn’t be a “problem” in the first place.

The question is….

Do you let the problem define the solution, or do you let the solution solve the problem?

Depends where. If it is next to I-45 (where it should have been in the first place), then no, I do not believe it is a “all-time dumbest” thing for Nuñez to consider.

What’s “Dumb” is having no ideas at all, IMO…

Get your student body to show and the stadium is full. Trying to target long ago graduated, uninterested alums, grads of other system schools, and the unaffiliated city dweller may pay some small dividends, but to
build the base you need the students hooked
on the experience (not just the game).

Start a B!tch & Moan board on this site, All negative gameday experience posts get moved there and sent to the AD.

It doesn’t depend on “where.” The money required for such a boondoggle would be outrageous, and there’s absolutely no indication that it would generate enough return even pay for the existing stadium. Nothing in our history indicates that moving the stadium would result in meaningful increases in support.

It would be stupid. Colossally. As a longtime supporter, I would view it as absolute malpractice and would never donate another dollar.

Our attendance has zero to do with the stadium location. If it mattered, we would have filled up the climate-controlled “8th Wonder of the World” when we played there and won championships. Didn’t matter then; doesn’t matter now.

Fair enough.

What’s your solution then?

More of this forum is dedicated to complaining than not.

Don’t need a separate cache.

Just need the administration to listen and actually “want to solve the problem”.

They’ve made a habit of putting bandaids on things that require a tourniquet…

We barely had enough to build TDECU. A new stadium is not in our near future. I doubt students today would vote for a service fee increase again, plus it would create an increase in concession prices and parking people are already griping about.

We have our stadium and it is exactly where it should be…on our beautiful campus…

Doesn’t the Welcome Center garage or the Elgin Street garage charge like $20?

If you’re asking me, I’ve offered numerous suggestions in other threads on how to get people to show up for games, as have many others. Not going to rehash all of that.

But our fundamental problem is the pathetically-small number of Cougar Pride members. This number has remained relatively static for years, and it should absolutely grow every single year.

More CP members would mean more season ticket holders, and it would indicate a growing support base.

And get the NIL program on the same page as CP, rather than treating them like estranged family members.

We’ve had too many years of unfocused annual initiatives with little follow-through and no apparent long-term plan to address this basic issue.

Didn’t suggest starting construction on a new stadium any time soon.

Just saying, don’t take it off the table for the future.

Everything Needs to be on the table.

Until then, do all the other stuff places (like Auburn) are doing to have sold out stadiums, raucus game day atmosphere’s, and traditions that turn a college football program into a “blue blood”, a destination school, a place fans can be even prouder to be a part of…
