I can’t remember the last time I cared about what anybody at the Chronicle said about anything.
Likely his application was rejected and held a grudge.
Has there ever been a local newspaper reporter that anyone on here has liked? I can’t think of one.
I dropped the comical years ago because most of their articles were from the NY Times and Washington Post. The two papers I would not even wipe my arse with for fear of infection!
Jerry Wizig comes to mind. Back when they had to compete with the Houston Post, they actually had some decent sports coverage. I’ll try to think of a few more.
The paper is at the bottom now - the only cover maybe one college beat and that’s it - but charge like their covering the entire city
Forgot about Sam Kahn…one of the best still! With The Athletic now. He alone is worth the price of a subscription.
Yippy ki yay! The UH hater is gone! Now, when will that other UH hater, Brian Tootsie Smith, gone as well?
I wanted to get and spread a bumper sticker that would have said, “Don’t read the Roach”.
Hand wasn’t that bad, was he?
I liked the guy before Khan but i can’t remember his name. Murphy or Wright?
The Comical is a joke and there’s a reason he was nicknamed “the Roach” with all the hit pieces he did on UH.
Of course! Mickey Herskowitz of the Post and Chron…Sam Khan of the Chron…Jack Gallagher of the Post, Peebles of the Chron…Solomon the roach was relentlessly obnoxious and easy to dislike…Good riddance.
Haven’t you heard the mantra of, “When a man is down, kick him. It will give him incentive to get up”?
Of course the Chron will just replace him with another Coog hater.
The Roach is dead. Long live the new Roach!
@aldineblue, don’t forget Jerry Wizig, who wrote a book about the UH football team.
Isn’t Duarte with the Chronicle? I’ve always thought he’s provided good/fair coverage. Strong pro-UH lean.
Duarte has gotten better, especially since holgy left. In fact, most of his stuff is pretty good now. His biggest issue is his thin skin. If someone hurts his feelings, he takes it out on the program for a while.
And that hasn’t even happened lately. He gets a tentative for a while.
