No sonny dykes please he didn’t do squat at SMU and TCU is already a dumpster fire, last year was an outlier with another coaches talent and lots of luck last year, may close games that could have went either way

Hiring Jimbo seems like it would be similar to Kansas hiring Les a couple years ago. Didn’t really work out for them. I’m not 100% opposed but I wouldn’t offer him more than a three year deal.
they finished #8 in the country the year after losing to us… he has top 10 finished the last 3 years…he as finished top 25 in 9 of his 14 years…how has it moved past him?
his worst year was last year at 5-7 (his only non bowl eligible team)… that teams till beat #5 lsu, #13 miami and #10 Arkansas last year

yeah Jamey Chadwell will be hot commodity, and liberty already paying him 4mil… what we are paying holgs… that will be a tough get and likely will be a crazy bidding war, we might not win
Hartline is gettable, but he has absolutely no ties to texas what so ever, with only half a season experience at OC… obviously some risks would come with hiring him

I see his record. I think he has succeeded with a ridiculous abundance of resources and because the ACC was not that great a conference until the end of his tenure. I mean seriously, how hard is it to recruit to Florida State and Texas A&M? He has a great record, but I don’t see him succeeding at lesser resourced programs.

in the context of the who is in the big 12 (after oklahoma and texas leave)… Houston could easily be in that level in context of conference… in about 4-5 year under the right coach someone could be saying “how hard is it to recruit at houston” … holgs is a terrible recrutiter, but we were lapping our g5 counterparts when herman was here (with g5 restrictions) … in the context of recruiting lands, resources, and capability to get guys we could easily be #1 in the big 12 in football… oklahoma state is the biggest holdover to worry about and there coach has publicly made statements (why he didnt want Houston in the big 12) “why would they come to Oklahoma st when they can just stay home in Houston”
its easy to recruit at a&m its also easy for every other sec west to recruit (bama, lsu, ole miss, auburn, arkansas )… im not trying to convince you fisher is the “best hire” or even a great one… i just dont think he is as bad as being portrayed

All this is moot, Jimbo made it pretty clear in the past after aTm he was retiring. And from everything I’ve seen he is pretty much done with coaching in general now.
Can he get us into the top 50 in recruiting composite?

My aggie friends who are very close to the program have said that Jimbo is done, at least for a year or two. He is just burnt out and the $70 million only makes his decision to not come back easier.
