In rf today at spring training game.
Made the Astros opening day roster!
Now THAT’S a good news story!!!
Hell yeah! Blows my mind how long it takes most baseball players to get to the league (at least compared to other sports). What an accomplishment.
Nice!
That race between him and Dirden for an OF spot was a hot one.
Julks is older and had a full season at AAA and succeeded.
Dirden did not get many AAA AB’s under his belt……Had he hit a couple more HR’s and hit .380-.400 Dirden makes the team regardless of experience….but CJ kept plugging away and by the end of spring training Dusty and Dana felt the two were close enough to give the nod to Julks.
What I would ultimately like to see is for Julks to make the most of his time and over take Meyer….Then Dirden has a few more AB’s in AAA and can come up and replace him and Chas can go to the bench.
Oh, I get it. Dirden opened some eyes, but I think he’ll be better off working in Sugar Land to start the season. I just want someone to take Dubon’s roster spot. ![]()
Weekest spot in the system is infield in general but especially middle infield……I would take the best college SS available with our first couple picks….before anyone says we have Pena, yes I know.
Way more SS get drafted and moved to 2b then guys that play 2b only.
Just saw Julks made the Astros opening day roster! That’s so awesome. Also, Wong made the 2 spot at catcher with the Sox! Coogs on my two favorite MLB clubs, love it.
Can’t wait for our current players down the road appearing on posters for the Cape Verde Islands league.
In lineup as DH tonight
I like that he’s getting all the guys into the action early. There are some good opportunities to show something while Brantley and Altuve are out.
When the heck is Brantley due back?
Hopefully no more than 2-3 weeks….he would have most likely been ready for opening day had the personal issues not come up.
Oh yeah !!!
Down 0-2. Sweet !!!
That fired up the crowd. Great to see his family enjoying it;

Now here’s an enjoyable way to follow UH baseball this year.
