Khator and Tilman

I get the impression you would like to see her go?

It’s perfectly fine if you do.

But if you do in fact want to see her go, what would be the reasons?

We want to keep Tilman and Khator but we also need them to take accountability or let them know that keeping CDH until 2025 will be bad for the football program.

And unfortunately he won’t be the last. Just look at how many coaches get fired every year. Had Herman stuck around and had significant drop in production for 3 years or so, people would be saying he wasn’t a good hire either.

Honestly if they fire CDH and Tilman is not writing a $15million check Dr. Khator will be gone after by other none football fans. We would be talking about paying the 6thish largest buyout in the history of college football this is not monopoly money. You are mad about Levine and Applewhite? Hiring a new coach is a crap shoot even the best programs with the deepest pockets have failures… a new coach could be worse then CDH.

yea that probably wont work out

I don’t want to see her gone just yet, if at all. She’s still doing amazing things, and I think as a PhD student (instead of just an undergrad when I bought into school spirit and how campus culture influences perception), I can agree more with the decisions since I have a bigger academic focus.

But the students, especially involved ones (Greek, Spirit, Academic, Staff, and SGA) have all echoed: Athletics is Big 12 ready, but UH is NOT Big 12 ready. All the bed spots on campus won’t make up for the fact that UH still hates fun

I heard 2027, the 100th year anniversary. However, I’ve known rumors for other longstanding presidents’ retirement dates and they basically stay as long as they want (SMU) or until forced out by scandal (A&M).

I think it might be after the 100 year anniversary though, maybe in November 2027 or January 2028 (20 years after confirmation or assumption of duty)

I trust Renu. She loves sports. I can’t imagine where school spirit would be without her. Dana was giving very reasonable expectations for this year and he couldn’t meet them. No excuses. Its time for a change, Renu and Tilman will lead the way, have faith

NEVER.

Look, 4 of the 5 cellar dwellers in the B12 are the new 4. They all had years to prepare for
the new competition and they are all doing badly It’s just football. To attack our best 2 leaders
maybe ever, over lackluster season, is ridiculous.

Oh I’ve heard otherwise XD

This thread is so off the rails, I wouldn’t complain if it was deleted. Mods are you listening?

I think we should burn the campus down if they continue with CDH. Nothing more important than football.

Someone start a “Fire Khator” thread. And make sure you post in the football forum.

You will not find a person alive that is willing to go after failed academic administrations then I.

I have personally taken on a few. Even one at UH.

That said, these two are keepers.

If they went sour I would be the first one to complain.

I’m going to add to this and mention:

Faculty and Staff get three emails a week called “UH Today”. Students do not get this email. They can just send the damn email to everyone. It might be better perception that faculty are showing it to students I guess

Lets be honest here

  1. “Tier 1” is not a thing it is nothing it does not exist it is a made up term that no organization or entity has any metric or meaning for. It is something that university presidents make up their own metrics for, and then soon after “meet” those metrics and boom tIeR 1!1!

Qualifying for NRUF funding was not obtaining “tier 1” by any way shape or form from the 2009 document that laid out the NRUF funding and the “tier 1” idiotic mention. In that document “tier 1” was AAU membership and UH is a LONG WAY away from that no matter what improperly used metrics are tossed out. “Tier 1” was never intended to be obtaining NRUF funding period.

In addition to that obtaining NRUF funding was really not even much of an achievement because the metrics to do so were skewed to where UH and Texas Tech would both meet them easily with any amount of effort at all at the first available opportunity.

Awarding yourself some undefined and made up achievement means nothing to anyone and the only thing it did was get other universities (like UNLV) to make up their own “tier 1” and then a year or so later declare “tier 1”.

  1. The endowment is not $1 billion for UH Main Campus that is for the entire system and while the bulk of that is for the main campus there is still a part of it that is for the other campuses. In addition Dr. Khator is getting paid a lot of money to be the “system chancellor” and she is not doing much at all for any other system members to the point that UNV discussed leaving the system and other components have stagnated. In addition she took nursing from UHV and that was an extremely unpopular decision and very “aggy system” like.

The latest NACUBO numbers show a total system endowment of $1,004,455,000 and about $100 million of that is other system components

UHV $17.8 million up a whopping $1 million from 2008-09
UHD $53.2 million up a whopping $19 million from 2007-08
UHCL $29.9 up a whopping $1 million from 2007-08 (these numbers are a bit old the progress reports are dated)

so that is $903,650,000 for the main campus endowment not $1 billion

there will be a new NACUBO report in early 2024 so the new numbers will be available for the total system endowment, but there will still be a need to subtract other system components for the main campus number to be known

If a UNIVERSITY wants to claim achievements they should actually achieve something not self award achievement or use spin to make numbers reach a goal even though that goal has not been met for the audience it is targeted to…and Dr. Khator should not be the system chancellor she should only be the main campus president there should be a new system chancellor in place that does the best for all system components and that does not take from them for the main campus

Mods please. Delete thread and ban OP.

Tier 1 was a reference to the Carnegie Foundation’s classification system, which rates universities in Tiers based on research dollars. R1 “very high research” is considered the Top Tier, and that’s where that comes from.

UH achieved that designation on Renu’s watch.
