Kingston Flemings

One thing I have noticed, which is generally not a great trait, KF does a lot of jumping then passing.

See the 1st 2 assists here

He does it a lot. I don’t recall many turnovers from it though, so there is that.

@Hill if its early in the game, i don’t mind it

But, late game scenario, yeah you dont want your PG going airborne on passes. Can lead to live ball turnovers

He’s such a good driver & finisher that, defenses do have to help. Leaving some wing wide open.

Vision & instinct wise. Hes not Jamal level, as a passer. But hes getting there

(5) assists & 1 turnover in 36 minutes vs Arkansas. With that many possessions.

Yeah but you’re also comparing him to Shead jr/sr vs true freshman. I don’t think it’s unfair to say that Kingston is our furthest along 1st year guard ever

When you can hang in the air as long as him I guess you can make decisions up there…

@1985coog i am comparing him to peak Sr year Shead. Which is a credit to Flemings

He’s been our best player. And yet hes still an unselfish player. Which is pretty incredible

Will Kingston take a dip sometime this yr? Maybe. But so far with the ball in his hands i trust him to make a winning play

2.5 Assists/Turnover ratio for Kingston.

Shead his Junior yr was 2.6. His senior yr 3.1 AST/TO.

Early 2026 NBA mock draft: Boozer, Peterson, or Dybantsa at No. 1?

Flemings and Cenac are listed.

His growth from November 1 today has been phenomenal. This is his team now and we will go just as far as he can lead us. I’m resigned to the fact we will only have him this year so I’ve quit worrying about it and enjoying the ride.

In terms of raw talent, Flemings is one of the most talented UH freshman I’ve seen. His play making ability and defensive skills were ahead of Shead at the same age. His decision making will get better over time. He may grow taller and definitely become more stronger. Exciting player. He’s going to close out more games as we head to March.

This year will probably one of the most challenging seasons for CKS. He loves defining the roles early on but due to the evolution of Flemings and other freshmen that role definition will continuously evolve in the season till March.

So far my favorite player of the CKS tenure is Rob Gray. He was one of those foundational players Sampson built his program on and I just loved his play. Of course there were other better players in the last several years and of course on the team now. But Gray was there when we really needed someone to build on.

Rob Gray is like Kevin Kolb to me.
Good player that led to better players down the line.

Good analogy.

Jamal Shead, is & always be my favorite player

Our progression into an elite program doesn’t happen with down years in 2022 & 2024.

Which certainly could’ve happened with the injuries we had.

Final Four in 2021. In 2022, if Shead would’ve been an average dude. We probably go 1 & done. He kept that upward momentum for this program for 3 straight yrs

Roberts, Galen, Rob Gray also my favorites.

Shead happens

“Shead plays hero again” at OU was one of the best calls I remember.

Right up there with football calls of Matt Hogan’s kick @ Tulsa and Vincent Marshall’s miracle play to send Hawaii Bowl to OT.
