It amazes me how people think going pro stunts a players development vs staying in college another year. I was reading about Sengun and Shepherd for the Rockets this past off season. The Rockets sent their two top assistants to basically live with them for 8 weeks working one on one with them - 2 two hour sessions of individual workouts each day, weight and exercise training, nutrition help, film study, etc. Sheppard said he knew he needed to improve on his defense, so he spent weeks with never touching a basketball. And this is during off-season. Pro teams have massive resources and coaches to improve a player’s development. It’s not all about he’s only getting 10-15 minutes of game time over 82 games vs 30 minutes over 35 games.

I was coaching PE at an elementary school in Beverly Hills. Everyday the 4th and 5th graders would play a basketball game. Not only were they some of the most competitive games I’ve seen, the skillset was off the charts too. Almost every kid was doing cross over and behind the back dribbling moves.
I told them, when I was growing up i didn’t even see high school kids play like they do

That’s good stuff! He’s been killing it for a long time.

His fan was born with Down syndrome, but his love for the Cougars was bigger than the arena itself.
:orange_heart: This is not just a story about basketball — it’s about loyalty, friendship, and a bond that went far beyond the game.ā€

I shudder to think what would have happened if Pop Issacs would have stayed with his commitment to UH.

He would’ve been big mad on the bench…

i think flemings ends up starting either way

massive difference between pops being a spark off the bench vs starting though…

He ended up coming off the bench in A&M.

He would of been perfect as a 6th man in Houston.

He probably wouldn’t had stand backing up a true freshman.

I still think Harwell would be the 6th man even if he had stayed…

There’s no way he could’ve played D for CKS.

Pop could of played for Sampson. He personally recruited him and had him signed. Harwell didn’t practice much as he got injury in the offseason. But so was Pop. Having both would of been a nice luxury though.

Amazing story JohnnyCoogar. THANK YOU for posting.

It seemed like Sampson had a quick hook with Harwell today. Was he slow on rotations or something?
